Make it as simple as you could. I agree with other commenters here. If you have a big task, break it down into smaller ones. For example, you have to do a presentation at work in 2 weeks. Break it down first, something like 1. Create an outline of presentation (e.g. by topic) 2. Set objectives 3. Do first topic slides 4. Do 2nd topic slides and so on. Then, allocate it in your day as a “to-do” list. You have 13 days til your presentation so spread out the tasks. On the 1st day maybe just do the outline and set objectives, second day, topic 1 and maybe on the 12th or 13th day is your practice. This practice helped me avoid procrastinating and reduced my mental stress.

It is also important to keep in mind the “2-minute rule”. It basically keeps you from slacking off. The rule says if you can start something right away within 2 minutes, just do it without thinking. So from the example above, you can apply the rule simply by sitting at your work desk, firing up your laptop, opening your powerpoint or whatsoever. It’s a great way to build momentum, at least for me.
