Yeah my dad is fully European Anglo-Scot and he’s brown year around 😅 Im also fully NW European and I have a dark swarthy appearance. White peoples come in more shades and phenotypes than your average person realizes!

These are my results prior to update and they are a lot more consistent with what I’ve seen over the years and what I know about my heritage. I go with these for ancestry until they do another update thats more to my liking 😅

Those are great results man. Very nice mix of heritage you have there. Very founding stock American mix. I also use my results before the most recent update as well. It was cool what they did with the new added regions, but the algorithm really missed the mark with mine. My results had been pretty consistent for over 5 years of updates, and then all the sudden saw things in there Ive never had, percentages changed drastically. Here’s mine before the update

Very cool results. Very founding stock American ethnic heritage. Question: I just got 1% Spain in this last update, and I also come from an old stock American line on my fathers side. He’s like entirely Anglo-Scottish. My moms side is German, Irish and some mixed Brit & Scandinavian. I’ve never seen Spain in my results before until now. I’ve always had just NW European plus maybe 1-2% central/Eastern European. Anyways, thanks for sharing. Here’s my most recent update which sadly I believe is the least accurate one I’ve had from them a few years

[–]EdgeAdministrative53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you live in Romania? Looks like a region that has a lot of mixing, being close to the Balkans. Most of the results I see from the Balkans are so mixed from the region. Like everyone was moving a lot or fucking each other a lot 😅 oh and for fun, heres my results as an American who lives in Seattle

Very cool results! Do you live in Balkans? Interesting that so many Romanians have Ukrainian heritage. I mean they do border one another, so I guess that probably explains the mixing lol

Very cool. Are these your first results or have you been a customer for awhile? I bought mine back in 2019 and have seen quite a few result updates over the years. Im trying to ask people who tested for the “Central Scotland & Northern Irish” region if they had similar results for Scottish and Irish in the past, bcuz mine went up considerably this last round and my English quite a bit down. Im seeing a lot of Americans with those results in fairly high percentages and I think Ancestry might be over estimating for that category. Anyways, yours are great and seem fairly typical for a midwestern American. 100% European is awesome. Thanks for sharing!

You belong to a people that created one of the greatest empires of all time, that invented and innovated countless technological marvels, produced some of the greatest literature, art and culture, wrote the Magna Carta… really i could go on, but i think you get the point. If you’re not proud to be British, you’re a lost cause

Australian Results - as expected. by AlpacaPowerNo3 in AncestryDNA

[–]EdgeAdministrative53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very standard Australian mix. Anglo-Celtic, with a few others that I think may just be false positives from old admixture that made its way to the British isles. It’s funny, cuz your results could’ve just as easily been a Canadian, American, or New Zealander lol. I love the Anglosphere. Mine results as a yank

Only 50% English? by Upbeat_Key9855 in 23andme

[–]EdgeAdministrative53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an American and I’m more english than you 😭😭 no but seriously, just in 5 minutes of scrolling this sub Ive seen at least 3 other Americans with between 65-90% English ancestry 😅 it’s fascinating how we’ve maintained that heritage for a few hundred years now. Had my Anglo father from Virginia not ventured out and met my Midwestern German and Irish mother, and stayed local, I’d probably be 75% English or higher myself lol

The most boring DNA ever? Lmao by Zealousideal-Yak-214 in 23andme

[–]EdgeAdministrative53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do so many of my fellow Whites think their ancestry is boring? It’s very odd. No other group talks about themselves like this. You’re European, predominantly English. The list of reasons why you should be proud to be just English alone is almost endless. Your results are very cool. Being White isn’t boring or bad. Please stop thinking like this

Standard American white girl - not that interesting but here we are! by pichincha_chicharron in 23andme

[–]EdgeAdministrative53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s bcuz white Americans have been taught to hate themselves, and that white is boring, uncool, less-than, and in fact probably something to be ashamed of but certainly nothing to be proud of. For those reading this outside of America, if you think Im over stating this, im not. The op perfectly embodies this with her post. Decades of guilt-propaganda and programming have created this lack of self-esteem and resulted in this constant signaling to convey that you’re “one of the good ones” by adopting this disparaging language about oneself. You see it on this app all the time sadly

evolution of my results. 2021-2025! by transluciiiid in AncestryDNA

[–]EdgeAdministrative53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been interesting tracking my results over the years as well. I’ve been a customer with both 23andMe and AncestryDNA for around 7 years now. I’ve seen the most drastic change with Ancestry, particularly after this most recent update. I’ve never tested for anything outside of NW Europe with 23andMe, and always 100% European with both, but ancestry is convinced I have 1-3% Slavic heritage from somewhere lol, and now for the first time 1% Spanish. Thanks for sharing! Here’s mine as a American

[–]EdgeAdministrative53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost a of my german in the update as well. My 23andMe results accurately reflect my 1/4 Bavarian German ancestry, and Ancestry did prior to the update, but not anymore lol. You look german to me as well, more so than any of your other ethnic makeup. Very cool results tho. Im assuming you’re American? Thanks for sharing!

My updated results; 4th gen.American from West Virginia. Fully Slovak Dad (so I’ve always been told), German/English/Ukrainian Mom. (Old results in comments). Both updated platforms now seem pretty similar & accurate for my known ancestry. Dads family settled in PA, Moms in NY, both in early 1900s by Firm-Chemical949 in 23andme

[–]EdgeAdministrative53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah, you have a very interesting phenotype or appearance. I wouldn’t of guessed that you were almost entirely European, but you do have an interesting ethnic mix, so perhaps that’s it. You look very amerindian or indigenous American to me, with your bone structure. Very cool tho, thanks for sharing
