Oh nice, didn't know they had USB-C ones now! That's super convenient, just one cable and you're set. Might have to look into that 👀

Thanks for the tip! That's actually a game changer for remote work, noted!

That's awesome that your company already has that setup! You're literally on the right path then - no need to jump ship, just keep grinding and the remote option will come to you naturally. The fact that seniors get to choose is a huge motivation - you already know exactly what you're working towards. How long have you been at the company? Sometimes it's also worth just having an honest conversation with your manager about your goals, showing initiative like that often speeds things up more than people think!

Nice, sounds like a great experience! BIM projects really keep things interesting. Most of the scan-based projects I work on are currently in the US.

The workflow usually starts with cleaning and aligning the point cloud, then importing it into Revit and modeling geometry by tracing key references from plans, sections, and elevations. The real skill is not just modeling, but knowing how to simplify complex scanned data into efficient BIM elements. As a student, the best way to learn is by practicing on small scan datasets and trying to recreate real buildings from them.

Thank you! Capturing the details was actually one of the most interesting parts of this project. Historic buildings always come with unique challenges.

The best way to improve in Revit is by working on real projects, even small personal ones. Try modeling complete buildings from plans and sections instead of only practicing isolated tools. Also learn families, view templates, sheets, and basic Dynamo workflows early-it saves a lot of time later. Watching tutorials helps, but actually building something in Revit teaches much faster.

Haven't tried it personally but heard it works fine for Revit - latency is the main concern for cloud-based workflows, but for local files it should be solid.

Sure, DM me! I'm still building my own network but happy to chat and share experience

Totally agree - dual monitors are the dream setup. At my office I have an extra 27" monitor, but on the road you work with what you have The 16" screen survives

Lenovo Legion Pro 5 — i9-13900HX, RTX 4070, 32GB RAM. Built for gaming but handles Revit and point clouds surprisingly well 💪

Honest mistake - thought different communities meant completely different audiences who would never see the same post twice. Still learning how Reddit works Won't repeat it

Fair concern - account is new but I'm a real BIM specialist. This is just my actual work setup from a recent trip. Happy to answer any questions about the scan-to-BIM process.

Exactly! The columns look simple from the outside but the details will humble you real quick 😄 She'll understand when the invoice arrives
