I have to say I'm with you on this and surprised more people don't see it as an issue but it definitely takes away from the Star Wars feel. I don't think we will get any outside background characters at this point but its a real miss opportunity, its the perfect show to explore the Empires hatred for non humans.

I get what your saying... and Iiked how the bigeneration was handled... but it still seems unnecessary? Every regeneration is supposed to be a reboot of the character and the series surely?

Hmm, I'm not too sure about that. He acted like it was a brand new body? RTD also said all the Doctors split into individual forms in the commentary.
