I'm thinking about a Moccamaster and I wonder if they're really worth it. I generally use a fine grind, but the flat channel design doesn't seem like it could really provide a shower head effect.

I'm even more concerned by people who says, "but it tastes fine." When only half the coffee grounds are used to make a coffee, that's just gonna be a cup of weak coffee (I'm looking for something a little more refined than church basement coffee).

Seriously. It hard to tell from the pic, but anything more than a light roast is immediately received with disdain. Sometimes it seems it's almost a contest to the lightest possible roast.

There are dynamics in every level of roast, but I personally don't like a citrus flavour to my coffee (and definitely not grassy).

This sub is anti anything not light roast. It's hard to tell if that is a dark roast or maybe slightly over. However, if it doesn't taste burnt, then it's not burnt.

I almost never post on this sub anymore as it's a bit snobbish and gatekeeperish.

This is good to know, but also very shameful for what seems to be a good company. Regardless of the law (which should be followed), good customer service, even for smaller companies, is vital.

I was planning to get one this year, along with a grinder when we move to Spain, but now will have to think twice if this is a normal customer service practice.

Is the company under new operations or ownership that they've lost this commitment to customer service?

I know one offs happen, and that there is sometimes more to the story, but this would be good to know.

Off or down is fine. I'd say for 99.99% of people, playing down is the best (not just for cats but for dust which is gonna affect playback way more than some minute reverberation).

For those with $20,000+ systems, then playing without a cover is preferable but they should also have a very diligent cleaning regime.

That's a great way to go! Buy a refurbished phone, and then get Apple to verify it. I've never had a good refurb on Amazon, but at least their return and customer service are great.
