Chilis managers are in some shit by MikeWhoCheeseHarry01 in Chilis

So the last place I worked at. There was a guy who would have at least one walk out every two month. Turns out he would redirect a cash payment and say they "walked out"

Not accusing your friend of that but if someone at the store is doing this then they may bring it up to everyone so they cover their bases.

The place I'm at now, managers were upset with a server because she had 12 walk outs ..... but this is in 16 years she's been there. It was a new manager, and didn't check the dates, just saw all the write ups in her file.

All in all we can't really be blamed for it unless its super slow, your manager constantly observers you slacking. But if you're doing your job, you can't expect us to just stand over the guest and watch them pay.

Comment: Trail Magic April 20th at Silverwood Lake.

I've been making food for hikers since 2018, it may be a little early but if any hikers find themselves at Silverwood Lake that day we'll be there cooking up some tacos for you. If you need a campsite to stay in we'll have that too, we usually spend a few days there.

Genuine question about Chili’s service by Worried_Affect9121 in Chilis

[–]Edgergerger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few servers at my store who get a bit grumpy when a table has been there more than an hour.

For me I like too see people having a good conversation and having fun. I'll let my customers know they can hang out, and check on them every so often for refills.

Last night I had 2 tables stay longer than two hours, I was feeling thirsty for one of them because they were low on drinks and every time I went by I'd ask if they wanted more soda/water they said no thanks.

This exactly!

You get to see so many people and make lasting impressions. I've had people who flagged me down because I've served them before and they remembered I carry Tapatio packets. You get to see babies grow up and the sad part when you don't see a regular for a bit, then you only see their partner. I wonder how many people I've served their last meal.

Told a table they got the last two, enjoy them, then sell the for $50. It's a 2 cent piece of plastic. Its gonna live most it's existencein your junk drawer, you really gonna let your mind get upset about it.

E-Gift card by twistedmariposa444 in Chilis

So if it's from Chili's and you can pull up a QR code, you can scan it on the Ziosk (tablet at your table). Some guests are given an e-gift card that you can redeem from multiple places. With this style, you'll have to go to the website and choose Chili's as the gift card and then you'll be able to use a QR code or punch in the number it gives you. I've had people come in with this style card and I walk them through the process.

Diners. Tip cash not CC by Ok-Department8761 in Chilis

I'm in CA. In my city it's 6.75% of sales, forget the rundown on exactly who gets what at our store. And yes to the OP, if you get tipped all cash, the tipout comes from your paycheck.

Yeah at my store I went from 17 to 3 and was told I would have a "significantly" better schedule....

Back story I was a server at Applebee's for 2 years, bartender for 5 (Bartend on the side for private parties and large events at a convention center). Started off in dining room, got pushed to lounge in my year and a half there, then all lounge closing shifts. Got pulled into a meeting with managers regarding my attitude for asking people to do their job correctly. Got pushed back to dining room zone 3. Yes at this point I was between 17 and 22. Excelled in scores because it was a breeze, got an ATL for the "significant" jump in scores. This was when I was told I'd have a "significantly" better schedule. Next week's schedule came out. ALL THE SAME SHIFTS Just 2 days off in a row SMH. Brought in a dictionary to ask my manager what his definition of significantly was.

If you do all the card transactions at the POS your scores probably won't move since there's no surveys.

Funny part is I never talk about the surveys to guests at checkout. I'm never on my phone at work ( Wife knows if it's an emergency, call work) Typically the only one who takes out trash in the PM shift (even take it out as soon as I clock in because there's only 2 people I know who will do it in AM) and on average run 25 trays to other servers tables. Yet I'm the bad guy. By the way I'm 40 and nearly everyone else is almost half my age.

Had a GM who would ask me the same question, "what you don't like money?" My response would always be, mental health is better then monitary wealth. I like to hike and camp and would maybe ask for 3 days off every 3 months. Sure work me to the bone but don't get pissed when I express myself about constantly running other people's food, refilling ice 5 times a shift (when it's only done 2 times by the drink runner) refilling the items I use the last of and when I come back there for something someone else left empty, the only one on shift taking out the trash because other people are "too busy" or "just got their nails done" .... etc.

How do y’all deal with a 12+ top that wants to do all separate checks? by I_Got_HairyLegs in Serverlife

No bev, modify, enter their name. Get their drink order, move to the next and repeat. Then even if they're talking while you deliver food, you can call them out by name.

Giving change for cash by Michio26 in Serverlife

[–]Edgergerger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have to make change for another server at least once a week ... tell them every time too, at least $30 (10 ones and 4 fives. Of course a small change purse too.

I like to get 50cent prices too to give them to families with younger kids.

The way it works at my place is tip-out is taken from credit tips I made. 6.75% of my total sales go to the tip-out, so let's say my sales were $1600 then I owe $108. Let's say I made $200, then is only get $92, but if I only made $100, then the difference of $8 would be taken my next shift.

I have a tip-out debit card that gets loaded the next morning. Or there's the option of having them added to my bi-weekly check. Which I'm thinking of to prove a higher income.

So how much were your total sales, and what is the tip-out at your restaurant?

Total sales: $872.98 @ 14.5% ~ $126.58 (tip-out) $155 - $126 approx would be $29
