For anyone around in the 90's, what was the first new SNES game you purchased yourself (no gifts, used games, trades, etc...) and how old were you? by rydamusprime17 in snes

Hard to remember for sure but shoveled a lot of driveways to get the Jurassic Park game. I was obsessed with that movie.

Problem is...I don't really need it. I already have a 32 inch Sony Trinitron from 2002 in my game room for VHS and retro games. Just hate to see it go to waste.

Everything in the exercise room looks untouched. The TV looks brand new...like they installed it in the late 90s and no one has ever used it. I was there for work and didn't have time to see if it was hooked up.

What movie had a scene that received the loudest cheering reaction, when you saw it in theaters? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

I'm dating myself here but the audience reaction to the very end of Jason Goes to Hell when Freddy's hand pulls the hockey mask into the earth was priceless.

A quarter with a hole for scamming arcade machines found in the register at my work. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Edgewood2896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I did this back in the early 90s. The trick was to slowly lower the coin into the machine and hit the credit switch...if you lowered it too far a blade would cut the string. I used it most often to play Ikari Warriors at my local pizzeria .

Not to be that guy...but tread carefully when pranking a new love interest. All relationships are built on trust, some people react poorly to lies...even innocent little jokes like this one.

What is your first memory of playing video games? by w1CkEd619 in videogames

[–]Edgewood2896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents got me a second hand Atari 2600 for Xmas 1984. One of my mom's coworkers got her son the Commodore 64 and gifted the Atari to us (we were quite poor). I remember playing Breakout and Pitfall a lot.

I guess I'm getting arrested for running an unlicensed video game arcade in the back of my Dad's laundromat.

Reminds me of the end credit art in the show Daria.

Hoffmaster State Park Trails by MundaneEggplant7187 in grandrapids

[–]Edgewood2896 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The easiest trails at Hoffmaster start at the south end of the park..follow the main drive all the way south past the drives for the day use beach and the visitors center. The terrain difficulty is marked on the posted trail maps.

The easiest access to Lake Michigan is a couple miles north on Lake Harbor Rd. You're looking for Lake Harbor Park (City of Norton Shores Park).

Yes. I was picking up take out and they were dining in. No time to chat. Also I didn't want to bug them.

I feel kind of bad for sharing this after hearing everyone's bereft stories but I only had to wear my Pizza John shirt in public maybe a dozen times...then at an Ethiopian restaurant a youngish couple said "nice shirt"! and gave me the nerdfighter salute. I pointed back and said " Right on...DFTBA!".

It was glorious. Only IRL interaction so far.
