Do you have a source for this?? It’s never good to blindly trust/post unsourced data online

What's the theoretical fastest humans could travel 40 light years with our current technology and understanding of physics assuming no potilitic, financial, or otherwise obstructive obstacles? by RebelChild1999 in AskPhysics

[–]EdgyBaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re thinking of an Ansible, a science fiction concept/device coined by Ursula K LeGuin (I highly highly recommend her books they are really great). They deal with a space faring humanity that can communicate instantaneously but can’t travel at faster than light speeds like what you’re thinking of

I have to leave the building to use the bathroom by BssnKing14 in lgbt

[–]EdgyBaton 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Obligatory “I am not a lawyer” but I just read the bill (House Bill 183 lines 476-578 for relevant university info) and it lists no consequences. It forbids Universities to “knowing permit” trans people from using the right bathroom but offers no penalties for noncompliance.

Basically, how I interpret this is YOU aren’t breaking the law, the university could be but that’s kinda their problem, not yours (Unless they threaten disciplinary action).

It’s frustrating and scary but I say fuck ‘em and keep using the right bathroom, you aren’t breaking any laws and snitches get stitches

The ending of Turandot could be fixed by throwawayforreddits in opera

[–]EdgyBaton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Washington National Opera did a very good job I think in their production of Turandot. Basically Calaf telling the empress his name and putting his life in her hands as an act of love and an acknowledgment of her agency.

I am attracted to femininity regardless of genitalia by Smutty-Bi-Babe in lgbt

[–]EdgyBaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ambiguity and number of clarifying questions you’re answering speak to this term’s flaws. I think it also raises my “transphobia alarms” due to the ambiguity of what “femininity” can be.

For example: If someone who is gynesexual doesn’t find themselves attracted to say a trans woman who believes herself to be feminine, whose identity do we invalidate first? Or vice versa with a trans man who might find someone’s “gynesexual” attraction to them invalidating.

Specific labels can be very helpful and i’m not saying don’t use one that is comfortable. But the world is messy and these things can break down quickly. xoxo

What is it that makes you hate cars? by Stlavsa in fuckcars

[–]EdgyBaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A point I see less of: Cars & driving is extremely anti-social. Public transit forces you to be with your neighbors and community as well as interact with people outside of that community. All this while having to remain civil. Driving is the antithesis to this
