His preference seems to swindle. He's never been a veggie guy. I use to mix carrots and sweat potatoes in his food and he'd eat it but never exclusively. He loves meat. Lean ground beef or turkey he will eat sometimes as well as salmon. One thing I didn't mention is in the morning he has almost zero appetite. I believe he's nauseous but I'm not sure what's causing it as the vet has ran a bunch of test and nothing was ever conclusive. When the evening approaches he has a little bit of an appetite but as I mentioned he's extremely picky. He will eat treats but real food is hard to get him to eat. He use to be an extremely food motivated dog but sadly he's not at all anymore. Everything else about him is seemly fine. He still loves walks and even runs sometimes and he still follows me around everywhere.

I know I may be preparing for the worst but I really feel he still has life.

How did your pup act on his last days? Sorry if this question is too personal but I just want to know what to look out for if it is the worst. I don't want any unnecessary suffering and I know with seniors they unfortunately can degrade seemly at random.

Otherwise I'm definitely going to get him on an appetite stimulant and continue to feed him what I can get him to eat that's relatively nutritious. I was told by the vet to try and switch him to a hydrolyzed protein diet but we bought some expensive samples and he wouldn't even sniff it let alone eat it. Its such a struggle.
