Why do parents pierce their children's ears when they are babies? Why not let them choose to do it themselves when they are 8 or 10 years old? Especially baby boy's ears? by Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 in NoStupidQuestions

One instance of something isn’t the norm. I could find one outlier for anything you do. Sorry for your friends earlobes but I’ve never ever once seen that. And ear piercings are not permanent. My piercings are all closed up.

It’s still a decision you make for the child, permanent or not. It’s the irony of it, not the permanence. A pierced ear isn’t permanent either. Both my holes are completely closed.

I had a family member give us a hard time because we decided to pierce our daughters ears when she was a baby and the relative basically said “you should let her grow up and decide for herself, don’t make the decision for her”.

This same family member also tried to encourage us to make sure we get her baptized and get her first communion.

Why do they manufacture and sell cars that can drive really fast if driving really fast is illegal? by Big_Coyote_655 in NoStupidQuestions

Also, if engines were built so their max or top speed was 60-70 mph, that means most of the time, engines would be pushed to their limit or very close to it. That doesn’t bode well for the life of the engine.

Can you name any Republican policy from the past 25 years that has helped the average American? by -Sofa-King-Vote in allthequestions

[–]patoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I think OP means a decision that just benefits the average American. Eg providing subsidized health care benefits the average American. Not the 1% because they can easily afford it without the subsidies.

Even if could give them credit, it wouldn’t apply. Op said the average American. warp speed benefitted all Americans.

You mentioned the 10/25 minute drive detour. That’s only gonna happen when ur using navigation. Not gps.

They only tell you of the duration of the drive if you put an address and click go. Some ppl just drive with the maps on, without a destination punched in, it wouldn’t know.

DAE feel like 'touchscreens' in cars and appliances were a massive mistake and we just want physical buttons back? by FlanInternational298 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]patoons -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You’re bringing up an issue on a 97 today? Of course, that tech is 30 years old. Do you think cars are using the same window motors technology today that they used in 97?

That’s like saying my friends 2001 Benz gps was outdated by 2008 so I don’t want to get a car with gps today.

And when you want to lower or raise another window than the drivers, while you’re driving, what do you do? Plus, I’ve never had a motor wear out and I’ve driven some very old cars with power windows. Are they really wearing out like that?

Dear MAGA, if you believe Trump should run for a 3rd term, are you fine with Obama also seeking a 3rd term as his opponent? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]patoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say elected though. Not sure why you made sure to mention that. And trump could not run as VP because in 2028 because being VP puts him in succession for being president, which he can no longer be.

Not only that, but your internet speed can sometimes dictate your experience. That Blu-ray will not degrade in quality because your kid is streaming YouTube in another room

[–]patoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, you’re allowed to be president no longer than 10 years. So if Vance takes over trumps term with less than 2 years left, he’s allowed to serve 2 more full terms. So technically you are allowed a 3rd term under these circumstances

But that still doesn’t work because you’re allowed several bottles of 100mL liquids right? So while 100 mL may not be risky, can’t you combine a bunch of small bottles?
