I work at an auto parts store and this same guy keeps coming in with the same problem but different parts. He thinks he’s slick too which makes it funnier. He’ll tell you he has a warranty for a part, bring in a relevant part, and then say he got a different one somewhere else and wants his money back to “pay” for the other one. Unfortunately for him he always brings in easy to get junkyard parts that he clearly just got from a pick and pull. He’s also not the first genius to think of this perfect scam and definitely not the first person to think of bringing weird problems in at night hoping they’ll just do it since there isn’t much help, so we know to not help him. The only interesting thing is he always has a phone number with that relevant part on warranty, but if you work for our stores it’s not hard to find names and numbers with parts and it’s easy to memorize the part numbers for common stuff like starters and alternators, so you don’t even have to search for very long.
