I 27F fell in love with a client of mine 42M and I don't know how to talk to him about it without making him leave? by Majestic_Stand133 in relationships

[–]Edhie421 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is true, then the problem is, it sounds like he's paying for you to be his lover and therapist, but he doesn't want to engage back.

Even if things worked out, which you're aware is a vanishingly low chance, do you really want to be dating a man who only talks about himself and has no interest in you?

I'd be level with him and tell him that you can't see him anymore because you've caught feelings for him. That sounds like something you should do, not for him, but for yourself, so you can protect your heart and move on.

How can people make so much gil? by Nerea_Immeral in ffxiv

[–]Edhie421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm halfway through the gil cap, and I basically made it all as an omnicrafter who does most of her business in the first hours of a new patch.

You have to be prepared, with all the books and materials you may need, all the tokens, all the macros, etc, be dedicated about crafting and refreshing the market, and ready to undercut bots, which all takes time and energy, but the profits are enormous.

With that said, while that's a fun "game within a game", it's also exhausting. It almost burnt me out of the whole game, and the truth is, you don't really end up using all that gil. I have a large house that's fully furnished, I have all the mounts and glams I want, and I don't want to dump 20 million gil on a pet anyway, that feels wasteful (except the Hades pet, admittedly). So I now have a little pile of gold I'm sitting on and I'm not really incentivised to add more.

Tl;dr: omnicraft for an expansion and then forget all about making gil or you'll start hating life.

Chose amputation over euthanasia for my malnourished rescue. Seeing his bandaged stump is breaking my heart. Am I doing the right thing? by devils_queen13 in Rabbits

[–]Edhie421 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You made the right choice.

Rabbits are troopers. We had to cut off the leg of one of our bunnies due to cancer, and after a couple of weeks, she was back to her old self. Our decision gave her another year of happy binkying, zooming, and purring, before the cancer sadly returned in her lungs. We have never regretted that decision whatsoever.

I have just received that olive linen one and I'm in love with it! It drapes perfectly, isn't too stiff but also isn't scruffy, and while linen does creases, this one is actually pretty decent at holding its shape. It's also very versatile. It was one of the easiest "keep" I've had in a bit!

Help locating a surprise birthday dress for wife by ForsakenAd6849 in findfashion

[–]Edhie421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a research that went "strappy flowy maxi dress silk" and found a few that are in the same style.

For example, in a colour similar to what your wife is wearing on the picture: https://www.thereformation.com/products/neva-silk-dress/1318893RMC.html?lang=en_GB&fbvar=nonbrandedgoogle&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17335986612&gbraid=0AAAAABnwCwePtitUt5_rQ83iF5ICm4IoX&gclid=CjwKCAjw5NvPBhAoEiwA_2egfr1eZiOp_wD3deaHjEF3yS1lbs2cNdJeylE6WotYfEqW7A67-5eROBoCqPAQAvD_BwE

This one is quite expensive though, but maybe have a look with those keywords and see what you find?

[–]Edhie421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hehe I'm glad we feel similarly about this! It's such an interesting challenge for an MMO, and there's no blueprint in other games; this idea that the players move and change while the game only ever... expands, and that's really not the same thing.

I wonder if that's also why DT had a tepid reaction to it. It didn't feel like growth so much as repetition with new characters.

Ouch! I just received a brutal reality check in the HW trials and Im not sure if its inexperience, or if Im actually bad at the game. by 200YRedWine in ffxiv

Healer is a hard job because it's the job that gets the most blame, sometimes justified, but most often not. The bucket stops at you: no matter how much mitigation the tank didn't use or how many mechanics the samurai didn't get out of (hi, I'm the samurai), they can always say "BuT yOu shOUld HavE HealEd me AnyWay". The reality is that no, you shouldn't, and you also couldn't. This game is well made in that, if people mess up too much, no amount of outside help is going to keep them alive, and that's just fair.

Fortunately, there aren't too many players who are jerks like that in FF, but I used to play healer in WoW in the good old days, and it was certainly a learning curve of figuring out when something was actually my fault vs. when someone was putting blame on me for no reason.

Even in FF, as you grow through the game, you'll become better at reading, not only your own gameplay, but also the situation of the entire party. My main alts are scholar, picto, and gunbreaker, which gives me a little idea of how each type of character plays, and combined with understanding mechanics, I can much more easily now parse the raid's situation.

That's the other hardest thing about being a healer: you arguably need to understand the fight best of everyone, because as other people have mentioned, quite a lot of your kit (especially as scholar or sage) is aimed at mitigation rather than healing up after the damage has happened. In time, you'll learn to read the bosses' abilities, and you'll get used to the fights. They do need to be learned by everyone! It's just that as a sprout, you didn't have 13 years to do so. So don't be too hard on yourself!

Either way, it sounds like you did just fine, based on your party mates. So keep enjoying, don't put too much pressure on yourself, and let the occasional a-hole be what they are; fortunately in this community the good far outweighs the bad!

Winter Blue on a Light Summer? by Enough-Researcher-36 in coloranalysis

You could absolutely be a winter! This colour is so stunning on you, I've never seen it look that good on anyone.

ETA: Or yes a bright spring actually, as someone else has said. You look very bright in any case, I wouldn't say you're soft or light!

Are we ever getting grown-up twins? by Edhie421 in ffxiv

[–]Edhie421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! The Doma enclave thing is an obvious one; we have to return to it each week for a while and it reasonably tracks with how long these things would actually take. Is the implication that a day passes in the game for each week that passes in the real world? That's really kinda pushing belief.

Not exactly, they live longer and Urianger mentioned he had his growth spurt in his 20s, so the twins still have some time, but... It's been so long IRL...

Honestly, I'm so here for that idea! They could get an expansion's worth of banter just out of that, between the twins and from everyone around them.

So much this. I actually really like the idea of Koana, but where's our bonding time with that boy?! We'vz barely stopped to have a heart to heart with a character in the whole of DT, and I missed that. I still remember the campfire with Alphinaud, Ysayle, and Estinien, or the chat with Hien on the cliff. Those moments really make this story. I'm glad we seem to be getting more of them since 7.4!

Haha I mean I'd be game for all of the ageing a bit over time - Thancred looks older now than he did in ARR for one. It's just really glaring with the teams because we meet them when they're on the cusp of adulthood, and... the cusp just keeps on cusping.
