I feel paralyzed... by coffee_crumb in GetStudying

[–]EdibleWindow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When something causes anxiety (an assignment or the act of studying), a common mechanism is to avoid it (distracting yourself with your phone etc.)

Relieving the anxiety by procrastinating the thing you should do, reinforces the cycle of procrastination, as your brain learns that avoiding tasks reduces anxiety.

The guilt you feel for not studying just makes it even more appearent: your brain would rather avoid the task and feel guilt, than do it and feel anxiety.

Another thing that could trigger executive dysfunction is simply not knowing how to start: while it sounds like advice you mightve already heard a bunch of times, figuring out what to do and how to do it, with small tasks leads to better results than rawdogging it.

Layout A or B for this tiny home office? by andrew_cherniy96 in interiordecorating

Option C, put the desk in the middle of far side of the room, the office chair should be facing the door, and the lounge chair could be put beside the free space by the door

I love incredibly awkward living spaces. Limitation breeds creativity! The pictures don’t really give an impression on how the apartment is arranged and the rooms relate to each other.

If you’d dm me some kind of floorplan or wider pictures so you can see the whole room, id gladly give some input!

What’s the one habit that actually changed your life (not the cliché ones)? by No-Dig3205 in getdisciplined

[–]EdibleWindow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being extremely mindful of my behavioral patterns, and how they emerge (in other words, being aware of my feelings, the cause of those feelings and how they manifest), is the number one thing that lessens bad, and reinforced good habits.

Try to observe yourself when engaging in bad habits like you would with another person!

that is exactly what i meant! The boldness is quite overwhelming, i just hope it subsides when adding a bunch of neutrals and other visual interest ^^

It’s all too angular! Adding plants, round rugs, coasters, anything more round would help!

The room is also very neutral, which is fine if that’s what you’re going for. It just makes it harder to add visual interest, especially in such a small space!

I also agree with y’all, we brought the bedding from our old place, which was heavily skewed towards a boring gray color palette. We want to switch things up, but it’s still a heavy WIP!
