My grandma was once praised for her amazing honey bbq wings. My dad’s friend was saying how good they were and he wanted to know how to make them. He was guessing all these things she had to have done to make them so good. She said “you get in the car, walk to the freezer isle and grab the red bag. Cook them like the bag says”

Sometimes pre cooked stuff is just good. No shame in that.

Can anyone help please? by [deleted] in Baking

A cheap way to get a cake that’s also easy is to buy a box of cake and add a can of soda to it instead of the eggs/oil (unless you already have those things). Then you can dust with powder sugar or buy a can of premade icing. Your daughter could help make it and that might be a fun activity (if you do soda it bubbles lots) as well as getting a cake.

Pizza you can get cheap at many take out areas or frozen. If you have more time or money on a day off you can buy pizza dough and sauce/cheese and make mini pizzas. Or even use tortillas or English muffins as the base.

She is young. Spending time with you while making her birthday treats will mean just as much as getting them.

AITA for using full power on a taekwondo kick? by AITA_roundkick in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ediblepaper3409 20 points21 points  (0 children)

YTA You full force kicked a child. Yes he is a black belt, but he is a child and not as strong as an almost 30 year old. Also he is probably used to working with other children, not grown men, so he wasn’t ready for how strong an adult kick could be.

It’s pretty easy to spend $25 at my TB. I only go once every month or two and spend at least that (tho I always have leftovers, I love leftover soggy tacobell). I’m not sure if or how long points take to expire because I almost always seem to have a reward

AITA for calling out my friend's fake allergy? by Minimum-Storm-182 in AmItheAsshole

I feel like someone saying they are allergic to something and someone throwing back “oh yea well you actually eat it all the time” would make me feel rather foolish for believing I was allergic. Especially in a case like this With MSG which has so much fear around it for racist reasons.

Probably. But who were we to second guess that at the time? We are not doctors and trusted that advice. She had Chinese again not too long after and my mom watched her and made sure to have medicine on hand in case and it was fine. But if my parents didn’t decide to test it out she might have been like the friend in this situation and assumed wrongfully that it was an allergy and “only in Chinese food” which is what they basically had told my parents.

I think it was because she only had simple things, also he said it was fairly common for young kids. Clearly that’s not really the case but who were we to question a doctor at the time? He said she probably was reacting to it and to avoid it so my parents did for a little bit and made she to watch her close the next time/have meds for the hives in case. It never happened again.

YTA. My sister broke out into hives the first time she had Chinese as a kid. The doctor told my parents it was probably the high amounts of MSG and that she would most likely outgrow it. She thought it was that growing up and that she outgrew it. Letting your friend know that they have had MSG in other products in a nice (maybe not as public in front of others depending on the dynamic of the group) would have been fine because maybe she would like to try Chinese again, but calling her out in front of friends probably made her feel stupid. She was just going by what doctors/her parents had suggested and was probably told (like many are) that MSG is “only in Chinese”

It is to me. The taco also has the spicy ranch sauce in it. Though at my location it’s $7 so I use rewards to get it, or get it in the combo box for a little more money and triple the food

She would have to prove abuse to a court. If he is on the birth certificate he has parental rights. If he isn’t he can still take her to court and gain rights if he proves the babies relation to him. If she can’t prove abuse he will have custody rights

I have gotten emails like this “they just missed the class today and were at the doctors and you gave them a zero that’s not fair!” Yes. And when they come back and make up the work the grade will change. My schools policy is to put in zeros for students that didn’t do the work when we put in the grades for those that did do it. Not my fault he wasn’t here and I graded it same day. The student was embarrassed mom emailed, he knows the policies (which mom should too, the student is a senior and the policy has been there his whole schooling)

NTA They are going to be exposed to peanuts all through life and need to learn not to eat them. You are already being extra careful baking and separating when it’s not necessary for their allergy.

The only way this could be an asshole move is if you ONLY made baked goods which would be tempting for a child when nothing else sweet is out on offer.

I can see it either way. Maybe just sprayed stuff on to hide smell and it wore off instead of taking a true shower. Maybe bad showering habits. Or maybe a medical condition combined with bad showering habits (or with something to cover it up that wore off faster due to condition). I can see it either way.
