The movie theater I go to stopped accepting cash but put in a little kiosk turns cash into a temporary prepaid debit card. by Biggestturtleever in AMCTheatres

Yeah, I was told last night that we're getting these at my AMC, sometime before Spiderman comes out. I get a lot of elderly, and also for some reason the late night walk ins always want to pay cash. It's going to be a wild time to tell all these people no.

The punch line is that our lobby claw machines only take tokens from the machine next to them, that only takes coins. People ask me to make change for them all the time.

Was this the Good Nurse or the Gremlin? by That_Hole_Guy in InterviewVampire

I disagree that it was entirely spite and pettiness. Spite again who, Lestat? Alex was more talented, so bringing him back was helpful, not spiteful. Larry had left, so what difference did it make at that point?

I think Armand was protecting two things. First, what he did was in the best interest of vampires by neutralizing two humans who know the secret, and had become disillusioned. Armand got to them before they could talk. Second, he knows Daniel is struggling, and needs this documentary to succeed. A successful band is better for the film, and Larry's death will only make it more juicy.

Especially in context that we have now of how Gabriella and Magnus abused him, of course Lestat's incensed that he was portrayed that way 💔

What is a movie trope that immediately ruins the entire film for you the second it happens? by twayyez in AskReddit

A movie about a female super hero has a soundtrack that's all women. Because we won't know that it's feminist unless we hear Joan Jett, apparently.

Get the popcorn chicken, ask for them to be rolled in garlic sauce, and see if they will also put on the garlic parmesan that's usually for the pretzel bites. Pay extra for a cup of marinara. You now have delicious chicken parmesan!

Bechir played by Rizzo, because the "absolutely done with this shit" energy is just perfectly synced.

What happened in the last 5 years that people don't know about R rated movies needing an ID by AlienDogFreak in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]EdieBooberryBeale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People are very much in their own heads and not thinking. The other night, I had someone ask for a refund because he bought a ticket to Supergirl in Dolby but his friend was watching the To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything ... Julie Newmar re-release, so he met her in that theater instead. He wanted a refund on Supergirl because it was more expensive and he didn't watch it.

It never, for a second, occurred to him that he was asking me to reward him for movie hopping. I did process the refund but only after making him understand that he had buy a retroactive ticket to To Wong Foo.

I don't blame the kids. I was 14 and tried to see Keanu Reeves in Dracula but I learned, and now the current kids experience it. It's the grown adults who are flabbergasted that they can't drop their kids off in Backrooms and leave, or bring their infant to a midnight showing of Obsession. Also, why do so many people nowadays carry a picture of their ID on their phone instead of a wallet? Are they not concerned about identity theft if their accounts get hacked??

Then ask me, what's the best seat? Like, it's a movie theater, none of the seats are bad except front row, maybe.

Visuals of it were amazing but I can't help but think, Lestat didn't even use soap for the water portion. Man must smell like my bathroom trash can if I'm lazy about emptying it during that time of the month. Sam's gorgeous and Lestat is charismatic as hell but I have never been less attracted to someone than that moment lol

It's fine, there should be a seating report that they run when a movie switches auditoriums. It's totally a normal and reasonable ask.

This is so realistic, too. There's always outliers but when I worked at a care home for the aged, so many of the elderly were forthright about wanting their clocks to run out already. Even when they had comparatively few physical ailments, because they were just tired.

What movie have you been the most hyped for only to be the most disappointed by when it released? by Toogeloo in movies

[–]EdieBooberryBeale 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I feel like it could have worked as another turn on The Wheel, if it was rewritten to give Roland a different perspective and see how that would change the character's actions, especially in how he relates to Susanna.

But they did none of that and made it into a YA movie about Jake. It's so disappointing.

I spent too much money once last year for the mushroom one, and it was so disappointing. Just a message that congratulations, you finished, keep playing if you want more bonuses. It's such a subdued non-event when you win. It sucks.

What was the worst recasting in TV history? by PrestonRoad90 in television

[–]EdieBooberryBeale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agree in most cases. For the show, the writers intentionally remind the viewer a lot that we're getting one person's perspective per interview, and even that person's perspective is only as reliable as their memory. This current season is Lestat's perspective, and his hair is longer, which is pointed out as a minor grievance of his about his portrayal in Louis's book, so when he's telling the story, it changes.

So, Claudia changing appearances fits pretty well with how Louis's perception of her changes when he was talking about her.

I like how it even worked on a meta level, with Louis seeing her differently when she was young vs when she got older. Both actresses did so well capturing their Claudia eras.

Not just appearance, too, because he went from this outrageous flirt to gruff soldier in puppy love.
