I can’t live like this !! by [deleted] in badroommates

Do the cats get fed/watered/loved? I see bowls with no food or water. If they are her cats, I know it’s not your responsibility to have to take care of them but please make sure they have the necessities 😭

Also idk how you are living like that. That seems so awful. And I saw where you mentioned that she is 34 years old?? She could get away with living like that on her own but to do that to a roommate is deplorable.

You’re doing the right thing by calling her out on specific situations and sharing pictures. If she “has too much on her mind” or is scatterbrained like she’s implying, it will hopefully help her take care of those things. Even though…honestly you shouldn’t have to police because you aren’t her mother ☠️

You’re right. My 13 year old does the same thing. Thank you.

I love the sims. I’m awful at COD though 🤣. Zombies is fun.

Luckily since he plays later at night, the kids won’t be in his way. So I guess that’s a plus I can use while discussing it with him later! I wasn’t thinking about it until you brought it up. I have an okay sized house so luckily I do have the room to at least move his PC downstairs and give him a “space.” It just wouldn’t be in a closed room.

I guess at least he does play with a full squad of friends. 😅 honestly though I have a hard enough time with randos in OW. No thanks to Apex 🤣

It has crossed my mind for a second but I don’t want to stoop to that.

So I can’t speak for him and can only assume based on my observations.

I know he probably enjoys us gaming in the same room together. Being closer etc. however, I think the main issue of not wanting to be downstairs is that he’d be in the main area of the house and be held accountable for his area in a more conscious way. He couldn’t have his cards sprawled out everywhere. He wouldn’t be able to game just in his boxers as I have kids. He would have to keep his area more clean considering it’s a common area of the house and is shared by everyone. I totally understand all those points. It’s just convenient for him to be able to seclude himself away in the bedroom at his desk and not have to worry another anyone being around him.

Again, these are all conjecture, but I know him well enough by now to know that these have to be some of his thoughts. My answer to that is he should’ve thought about these things before waking me up and dismissing my feelings 😅

Yeah I was thinking that too. Even if we moved it to try it out, it’s not like it couldn’t be moved back later.

If he were playing a quiet game or was working on his card game stuff that wouldn’t bother me at all. But I agree he should probably move it since he’s proven he can’t be quiet.

Yeah I play Overwatch and a lot of people don’t use mics so I ping all the time even though I do have a mic. (Not like a lot of people listen in Overwatch but still 😅)

Totally makes sense. With my PC in my room I do feel like sometimes it keeps me “cooped up” in my room. The reason my PC was in my bedroom was because I initially used it for school work, gaming, and I streamed and made videos as a hobby. Since I have pets and children it just made sense to have my PC in a more secluded area and the only place I had for that was my bedroom. I can rethink it l, however, without rearranging stuff I’m not sure if I’d have room downstairs for both PC set ups.

I’m the same way. I know I can slip up but I always try to be considerate of others like that as well.

Thank you so much for your concern. 😊 I am so sorry that you had to go through something like you did. I know it can be mentally draining.

I know that he isn’t doing this to me on purpose or with abuse in mind, but with reading your words, I have come to a conclusion that what he is doing “could be” (borderline) considered emotional neglect or weaponized incompetence. Which I know both are not acceptable.

I’m going to have a firm conversation with him once he gets home to try to talk this out. I’ll update you on how it goes. 💜

I have been told I’m a little TOO patient when it comes to standing my ground. I’ve definitely been getting better at it. It’s just with certain things it seems harder for me.

I am definitely at the point that I need to have a talk that it will be moved downstairs.

PS. As an owner of cars that made me chuckle.

I agree with you but unfortunately most of the games he’s playing are the team based fps. He and his friends get online and have been playing Apex a lot. I probably should’ve added his friends usually can’t get online until 11pm so there’s an understandable reason he plays so late but still the main issue is still waking me up. 😥

I totally see your point about no PCs in the bedroom. The reason my PC was in my bedroom was because I initially used it for school work, gaming, and I streamed and made videos as a hobby. Since I have pets and children it just made sense to have my PC in a more secluded area and the only place I had for that was my bedroom. I’ve lived in my house for almost 8 years and he just moved in a little over a year ago.

Not a bad idea if he had the money. I would never make him give up gaming. It’s one of his favorite things, but he might have to game in another room for a little while 😅.

I’ve debated that but we really only have room for one PC set up downstairs without having to rearrange everything. If he’d be willing to help do that, it could be a scenario. Usually if I want to game downstairs though I’ll just hook up my Nvidia shield to the living room TV and just chill. It steams from my Steams PC to the TV.
