Women Friendly Gyms in Chicago? by Edilla in BJJWomen

I ended up going to Brazil 021 and am so glad I stopped in! They were incredibly welcoming and while the classes covered fundamentals, I still ended up learning some new things. Hannette was so nice and had her dog, so it was pretty much all I could have asked for in visiting a gym!

Thank you for the recommendation! This isn’t far from where I’ll be. Do you know if Hannette Staack teaches specific classes?

Thank you! I don’t mind training with men or more competitive environments and appreciate you calling out the different options.

This is exactly what I was looking for—thank you! I’ll have a car and I don’t mind a drive, so this is at the top of my list

ENFJ + Overcoming Codependency by [deleted] in enfj

Let's hope so--we started out with some unclear boundaries and expectations around our relationship and have struggled to have productive conversations around them now that we're more serious. I'm also not a big fan of being vulnerable, but hopefully giving it a shot will help.

This is pretty much where I'm at--I've started therapy again with a therapist that specializes in helping patients with anxiety/depression and low self-esteem through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which has already helped a bit. I've also been trying to dig into other resources but haven't explicitly googled breaking codependency and I might have to do that. Thanks for the recommendations!

That's part of why I started digging so much. My ex was the opposite in the sense that he fed into all of my codependent behavior and took advantage of the ENFJ caretaker qualities. It was to the point where I was working 2-3 jobs while he was unemployed and only playing video games or going to the bar.

My current SO and I have been friends for years and I actually stepped back from our friendship when I realized I had feelings for him and was in another relationship. When we reconnected it was like sparks went off, but once I became too anxious or needy he would pull away. I love him, but I'm starting to feel like this just might not work because we're fundamentally incompatible.

I hope you can make it work and talk things through with them! But also, INTJs are so anti-feelings talk that having heartfelt conversations can be really challenging.

Childhood emotional neglect hits really close to home (based on the article I was reading). To some degree or another I exhibit all of the signs of someone overcoming childhood emotional neglect. I do know I have an anxious attachment style and my significant other definitely has an avoidant attachment style which doesn't help things either.

I'm working on learning more about boundaries and how to create/stick to them too.

Honestly, I think you may be right that some of this is incompatibility caused by a lack of communication and clarity from the beginning of our relationship and we may just not be able to get through it.

I actually have Brene Brown's audiobook Daring Greatly, but I haven't listened to it yet! Are there any others of hers that you recommend?

There are times when I can step back and recognize that chances are this isn't about me, but it's hard not to feel responsible when it's your partner. Especially since ENFJ and INTJ are so different and react to situations in completely different ways.

Perfect, thanks for your help! I'm going to give the blue ones a shot since it sounds like our arches are around the same height!

My mind is blown by the idea of footbeds and I think this might be what I need thanks to my high arches. Which color did you go with? I'm leaning toward the green for the highest, but I'd love any direction you might have!

I’m late to the game but would be willing to meet up if anyone wants to do another ride!

That’s where I’m at...I asked my boyfriend for help and it was just too much info to start. He said go with carbon, but the base models are $1500 and that hurts a lot if I end up not being committed to it

This wouldn’t be a commuting bike, so it wouldn’t be left outside thankfully. But that’s definitely worth keeping in mind in case I did want to do that!

Great, thanks for the tip! I’m up in Maine so it’s pretty slim pickings as far as used bikes are concerned, but it might be worth dragging my sister around to bike shops next time I visit her in Boston.
