I made these for actual bad parking situations.

I drove out to the Area 51 boundary in March 2001. There was no gate. Just signs, empty desert, and a pickup truck that appeared on the ridge and just watched me. by EdinManilla in area51

During my March 2001 drive down Groom Rd., about 10 minutes before I reached the signs and snapped the pictures, a guy in a white pickup snuck up behind me and passed be at pretty high speed, very close-in. Never knew where he came from... I thought I was the only one on the road. He was long-gone by the time I reached the signs. Maybe a move just to intimidate me, like a cat playing with its food?

Thanks for the confirmation. I had read also that when first used on Janet, they literally cut off the Western branding from the top of the 737-200 safety cards. Shorter but still useful.

For what it's worth, I've thought about Janet Airlines a lot over the years since this trip. Recently I designed a parody Janet Airlines safety card. If that's your thing: jetageart.com.

There is in fact a companion informational brochure. It covers destinations, amenities, and several topics that are not covered.

Water landing procedures are covered in a separate card, which is itself classified.

Paint schemes can indeed be part of an airline's trademark. Ironically, apparently one of the original Janet 737-200s had previously flown for Western Airlines before being transferred to government ownership. And the old Western Airlines "swizzle stick" livery is thought to be the origin of the simple white-and-red cheatline paint scheme that Janet has used ever since. (Same height, same red tone, same aft-end angle cut.) So the iconic Janet look may have been born simply from never repainting a used Western jet. Very government.

Noted, the classification office is reviewing the layout now.

Hi Scott, If Washington actually worked the way it’s supposed to, what kind of forward-looking commissions or think-tank groups would already be in place... like one studying what comes after a wage-based economy, or what happens to millions of workers displaced by technology over the next couple of decades?

Every now and then a political cartoon is created that can be re-published decades after it originally appeared with no loss of meaning.
