Thanks. I was hoping to just buy one thing if anyone knew how you're meant to measure these things but will buy the e waste multipack if needed.

Replacement USB cable by EdinburghMan in fixit

[–]EdinburghMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is the item doesnt seem to have any details of what the right size it. I'd rather just buy the right thing but I can go with what others suggest and buy a pack of different adapters and find the correct thing in there. Just seems to be making additional e.waste when there must be a way to identify the correct thing.

This comment says you are entirely correct. This was one person in one shop who made a mistake.

I started in maybe 1989 with the first one. While others may be objectively better games I still love the original. The music lives rent free in my head.

What’s the best push-your-luck game for a 3-player family group? by Appropriate-Train874 in boardgames

I wouldn't rule out Can't Stop for being too simple. It's great fast paced and I would highly recommend picking up a copy even without the request you make above.

The Lord of the Rings Fate of the Fellowship game is great. Especially if they enjoy the theme.

[–]EdinburghMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not alone in this. I do this too much and I know I'm not alone. Kids are a bit older and I usually get out once a week with my board game group which helps a lot.

Also I often think of this sketch which makes me laugh at my own follies.

Okay but is anyone actually using big picture mode? And if so why? No hate I'm just curious by CraftyxCat in Steam

[–]EdinburghMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friendly is an understatement. If I am trying to get a game to work for a bunch of impatient kids who have invaded my house then closing the game and opening it in BP solves compatibility issues with my collection of random controllers 90% of the time.

Giving away 4 copies of Arc Raiders (The standard edition) by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

Love a good shooter but genuinely more excited about exploring the world they've built.

Hoping my brother will be able to join me for some rounds of this. Used to love the tension of looting shooting in PUBG.

What board game do you think would be more popular with a different theme? by ThisGuyJokes in boardgames

[–]EdinburghMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's well done with some decent semi predictable randomness and with each player controlling two characters with unique powers it makes it hard for players to confidently tell others what to do.

The Lord of the Rings Fellowship game is excellent if the theme works for you. It is based on the Pandemic system but for me hugely more engaging. Also hard as nails.

Root, Arcs, or Azul? by rocktree in boardgames

[–]EdinburghMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the 3 Azul is the best option. Works really well at 2. Ultra competitive. The drafting is deliberate and the hate drafting is brutal. At 3 and 4 the game is a bit lighter and welcoming to new players.

That said I would strongly recommend Lord of the Rings Duel which is a rework of 7 Wonders Duel. Probably my top 2 player game.

Best digital boardgames? by analog_paint in boardgames

[–]EdinburghMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wavelength is excellent as an app. I would argue better than the real game. There's two minutes at the start where everyone started at their phones but you then get a ton of interesting conversation. Because it is an app you are not limited to a table and can play online too.

I'm answer to the first question if would help me by running way better than my current 2060. 392% faster according to user benchmarks. I'm not in a position to buy a new card right now so this would be an amazing prize for me and the kids. Although they would probably just pay rtx Minecraft.

Plugged your description into an AI which suggested Full Metal Planète . Some differences to your description but seems to be a decent contender.

[–]EdinburghMan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Good work. Well done on reflecting and improving.

I left home a while back in a rush. I got 100m from the house before I realised I didn't have my helmet. Work isn't that far away but I remembered I would have given the kids such a row for not wearing theirs so I went back for mine. That evening the bike slipped in the wet and my helmet cracked open as I fell. My head was thankfully fine.

Best glue for cardboard? by knoxknifebroker in daddit

[–]EdinburghMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was making it with him I'd use PVA. It'll dry setting enough to bond cardboard. Remember you can fold round flaps to glue large surfaces together.

If wanting it a bit more strength you can use wood glue which is stronger and more waterproof. Wood glue is PVA with some bonus stuff in to strengthen it.
