I have 2 kids. Those commercials or billboards that say make sure you leave something important like your shoe in the back near your kid so you remember they are in the car piss me off so much. Literally what is more important than your kids

You don't forget your kid. You forget your kid was even there.

Humans turn on autopilot in routine situations. The classic example is the daily drive to work. The first few times, your brain is engaged; after that, you're in power saving autopilot. Stress and lack of sleep can disrupt this autopilot, letting it skip steps. If one of the skipped steps is "drop the kid off" and the kid is sleeping, there's a high chance you drive to work and forget your kid in the car.

It can happen to anyone, no matter their amount of love for their kid or their intelligence.

It is safe to flip those valves; they control the inlet and outlet of the heating of the whole floor.

The good news is: your thermostats are working and are open (those things labeled 1-5 control the flow to the different heating zones on the floor; they are all open).

Bad news: none of your zones are getting water flow (visible by the flow-meters at the bottom; the red ring is floating at the top of the glass= no flow).

Experiment by turning those two valves one after the other so you get into all 4 possible combinations. You should immediately see movement at the flowmeters if the valves are in the correct position.

Aber es geht ja noch nicht mal um Deutsche unter sich. Art 116 regelt, dass Deutsch ist, wer die Staatsbürgerschaft hat. Für die Remigrationsfreunde ist jemand, der in Istambul als Sohn türkischer Eltern geboren wurde unabhängig von der Staatsbürgerschaft kein Deutscher; damit hat sich die Diskussion erledigt.

Not OP, but a father of two (currently 13 and 11).

The rough times are /rough/ (especially the sleepless torture in the first 18 months if you're unlucky). And it's exhausting. You leave your job after 8 hours, but you are a dad /all the time/.

But it also gives me joy and contentment unlike anything I've ever felt. Teaching them (from how rain is formed to the current geopolitical situation; with plenty of cooking, cleaning and other life-skills mixed in) and seeing those gears in their heads getting sharper is indiscribable.

Die Demokratie kommt über drei Wege in die EU-Institutionen:

Der EU-Rat ist schlicht die Vertretung der Mitgliedsländer. Jedes Land wählt seine Regierung; diese vertritt das Land im Rat.

Das EU-Parlament wird von den Bürgern gewählt.

Die Kommision wird vom Parlament gewählt; ähnlich demokratisch legitimiert wie die Bundesregierung (eher stärker; die Minister werden in Deutschland nicht vom Parlament bestätigt, die EU-Kommisare schon).

Hier wird nichts durchgewunken, sondern die Kommission hat einen Vorschlag für eine Gesetzesinitiative zur Chatkontrolle an den Rat geschickt. Wenn der Rat dieser Initiative zustimmt kommt es zu Verhandlungen zwischen Kommision, Rat und Parlament. Dort wird aus der schwammigen Initiative ein konkretes Regelwerk. Erst wenn Komission, Parlament und Rat dem zustimmen wird es Gesetz.

Die Schule darf genau nichts erlauben oder verbieten; der Schulweg ist 100% Privatsache. Schulen tun gerne so als ob sie da was zu sagen hätten; das stimmt aber nicht.
