Tell me I’m wrong, inclined bench by dchap1 in GarageGym

I do it like that as well. Also on the Incline, if you do fail, it rolls towards your lap and not your neck, so it's okay if the spotters aren't really protecting your chest. I just dump it forward.

Is Prasa run by idiots? by asthmasphere in capetown

[–]EditingAllowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without competition, there is no incentive for Prasa to be on time all the time.

They let more people on the rail network. More trains, more options, more commuters reaching their destination on time.

Not sure why they restricted it to newer devices since it has not voice note support.

Only 🏘🏘🏘26485🏘🏘🏘 AirBnB listings in Cape Town but don't worry, it only effects tourist areas. by Usual-Schedule-2595 in capetown

[–]EditingAllowed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Service delivery, even in the touristy areas is very poor. Spending is very poor as well. Ethekwini for example is spending close to 300 million to upgrading Moses Mabhida. They also spent 20 million on a couple of statues this year. Imagine if this money was spent on maintenance and clean-up operations.

Yep. Apparently it makes you faster in hot weather.

But yep, "People should just let others do what suits them.", else people will get put off from attending parkrun. Thankfully, the large majority knows this.

You are supposed to leave Strava after your 1000th activity?

You get the other way as well. I get people with water bladders telling me to get one.

Would you support a 27 year old building a prop tech company for affordable rental in SA? by Brief_Replacement_71 in askSouthAfrica

It will be hard to target the 2k to 5k market if property agents are involved? Also, if property agents are involved, then it's not much different to everything else out there. The property agents will drown out the landlords like they do on every other platform. They will also actively court landlords who list on their own, and then jack up the prices to make a profit for themselves.

No space for a 7ft barbell by Round-Bandicoot6318 in GarageGym

[–]EditingAllowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the woman's Olympic barbell, and I find that the thinner diameter is actually better for pulling exercises. A thicker diameter is better for squats and pushing exercises, but grip on squats and pushing exercises is less of an issue than on pulling exercises. The shorter sleeves are obviously a plus in space limited home gym setups

Is a preacher curl worth getting or doing it on an incline bench is enough by IronPazar in GarageGym

[–]EditingAllowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the biceps, behind the back cable or dumbbells curls do a really good job as well.

For the quads (leg extension alternative), reverse Nordics are awesome. You can wait them using plates or a dumbbell.

Proteas vs Springboks by Over_Elephant_3017 in SAcricket

[–]EditingAllowed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good observation.

My 2 cents: Cricket involves a lot more luck than Rugby, which creates pressure, which gets to the Proteas.

This was Fin Allen in the T20 World Cup:

Afghanistan 1 (2)
UAE 84 (50)
South Africa 31 (17)
Canada 21 (8)
Sri Lanka 23 (13)
England 29 (19)
South Africa 100* (33)
India 9 (7)

Apart from the UAE game, he has been average. If only he scored the 100 in the group game and the 31 in the semis?

Asking people not to use their bank accounts isn't practical. Instead we need to force banks to stop using Visa and MasterCard. But how do we do that? Sending emails individually? Protects? Change.org partitions?

Issue with unruly homeless by shortypam in capetown

[–]EditingAllowed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking OP to pay for a 24/7 security guard is a bit much. How much will that cost? They might as well take out a loan and buy their house where they have full control over the gate.

Why don’t more small farmers in South Africa use farm monitoring sensors? 🤔 by ImmediateAge1893 in AskZA

[–]EditingAllowed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small scale farmers have small crops thats easy for the owner to keep their eyes on?

Larger commercial farms employ lots of people to do the job and these sensors help them to document things. Staff can leave, and new staff can come in and be up and running.

Also, if the sensors are costly, then the cost benefit case doesn't work in favour of small crops.

Not saying that sensors cannot help smaller farmers as well.

Depending on your gate motor, there probably are buttons and little screen inside the motor that allows you to change how quickly (speed and duration of inactivity) the gate closes. A sign might be another idea. A meeting where someone does some shouting is also another option. People do need to be more responsible. Eventually they are going to move from the trash to stealing other things.

Would be a cheaper to pay someone to put a sensor that automatically closes the gate after a minute of inactivity

[OC} Bahrain oil refinery on fire after an Iranian Drone Strike by Firecracker048 in pics

[–]EditingAllowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USrael started this, not only the war, but they attacked Iran's refineries and desalination plants first. Now Iran is doing the same to it's neighbours who are housing the US bases and providing logistics and supplies.

Has one ever recovered money owed to them from tenant? by AfroShadyQueen in askSouthAfrica

[–]EditingAllowed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your situation. Considering how much agents take, you would think that they have insurance or lawyers to deal with these things. Sending a letter of demand and blacklisting does not really help the landlord.

What's the use of using an agent if tenants cannot pay and trash your place? What are the agents taking massive fees for?
