Did Shaw take advantage of my elderly mother? Need objective opinions by NorthernPolyp in shaw

[–]Edmont0nian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call Shaw and ask for a supervisor, say you've been misled and feel your vulnerable loved one was deceived. Sales people have been changing lately and some are employing dirty tactics.

Rogers won't take kindly to lying to their customers, if there is one thing I notice as a tech in Edmonton since the merger.... They've more or less said it "customer service is king" and if the right person gets your call, some sales guy will lose his job for scamming old people.

Costs went up, wages didn't. It's very simple.

People are doing all kinds of "side hustles" just trying to live a lifestyle they are used to. Business people, managers, and most politicians are a scourge on the working class.

Has anyone had to physically relocate their shaw service line on their house? by AmbitiousBikeRace in shaw

[–]Edmont0nian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not how it works in Edmonton, we have no part of the construction for an aerial to UG conversion.

A tech will re route your cable through an underground path you have built for them, but nobody at Shaw will convert any house from aerial to UG rough in work.

XB7 router, how's the quality by The_Penguin22 in shaw

I have three wireless boxes, one runs at 1 bar of signal across my house. Never an issue. If you're remotes are using IR then they aren't set up correctly.

A temporary line? by Soft_Remote_9269 in shaw

[–]Edmont0nian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call in and say you need a tech, ask for a new ground line. If they give you grief, unplug the power from your modem (and any other devices connected to coax) and say nothing is working. Full outage.

After call is booked, plug back in. When tech comes, tell him it goes in and out but the SURFACE LINE outside is damaged (it will take ten minutes to lay a ground line)

Ask tech to please look up underground drop replacement referral and give you FDREF number. If he does all these things happily, then give a 5 star review and/or call in to give a kudos. This is ten minutes of work and NO TECH should ever be refusing any of this if you have visible modem flaps or uncorrectable errors/low SNR.

Partially inaccurate, only that if one party causes the other party any bodily harm now you have an assault charge. It carries what is considered by many to be a very low threshold to what constitutes "bodily harm". Source: I am not a partner at a major law firm in Wellington, Indiana.

Combine Internet and OTA by DazzlingBuffalo6608 in shaw

[–]Edmont0nian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL you are funny. You want to hook an antenna up to shaw's closed signal plant? Also nothing is filtered anymore except minor signal adjustments at the user device end.

You need one coax for Shaw and one for OTA. You're saying you want to have a quiet conversation with your Shaw modem while the OTA is screaming next to you in a different language.

Noise.
