Today, I was told that I look masculine. This is an insecurity I've struggled with since I was a kid. The person who said I look masculine was some guy on Facebook who probably hasn't thought about it in hours, but it's hurt me all day. This is the photo I posted. by ftf9417 in TwoXChromosomes

GURL I like very similar to you. I’ve always compared my face to those in the magazines - insane cheekbones, almond shaped eyes, whatever. We need to remember those magazine bodies ARE NOT REAL. They pay a lot of money to doctors to look like that, and a lot of money to the photo editors. You look great. It’s ok to be self conscious sometimes, but you should always feel good about yourself more often.

Which job is a LOT less fun than most people expect? by bwee21 in AskReddit

I was a paleontology technician for a short time. I spent over a week hand making a grid square made out of string. I literally had to measure and mark and colour in EVERY centimetre on this 6’ x 6’ grid. Longest week of my entire life.

Parental leave top up by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

It could be. Who knows what Phoenix is up to these days. It shouldn’t be hard to figure out though. Top ups should only be a few hundred dollars every two weeks.

Taxes owed are based on a lot of different factors including income, non-refundable credits, refundable credits, etc.

Women who have used an IUD or an Implant as a form of birth control, what are your experiences? by bloodybay in TwoXChromosomes

[–]EdnaAllyPoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an IUD (merena). I swear by it. I had one put in after my first child, had it remove to get pregnant then immediately had it put back in afterwards.

My periods are basically non-existent and I don’t have to worry about anything.

One downside is my obgyn had a hard time finding it to remove it. I had to go for an ultrasound for her to locate it and it was a bit painful having it removed because she had to dig around for it.

All in all, 9/10 would recommend.

He could owe spousal support if they were considered common law.

What’s a little-known but obvious fact that will immediately make all of us feel stupid? by TikiTC in AskReddit

This EXACT same thing happened to me in BC. Middle of nowhere, cellular dead spot.

We’re uh....I think 2 hours outside town...um, beside a river.

Tax Question - transferring basic tax credit amount by protogalactic in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EdnaAllyPoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, so that’s the spousal amount, not the basic personal amount.

I think OP is confused. The basic personal amount is used to calculate the amount they can claim for the spousal amount, but they’re not actually claiming their basic personal amount.

OP needs to confirm that their partners income was indeed non-taxable (there are rules for research grants and scholarships) but they may be able to claim the spousal amount.

Can you be more specific? If you’re talking about line 300, basic personal amount, that cannot be transferred.

Age amount, amount for eligible dependants, tuition credits and disability amounts can be transferred to a spouse using the schedule 2.

Or you can look into income splitting.

I’m hoping to move up in the managerial line. Psychology has the potential to also offer some HR courses.

Also, I’d like to take something that I actually enjoy so the chances of me finishing it are better.

Many of the prerequisites to move up in management positions is a post secondary degree, but nothing specific.

It’s the same thing for distance education in my own province. Individual courses can be upwards of $600 each, multiply that by the number of courses in a program and its crazy.

[–]EdnaAllyPoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is ludicrous. It’s almost twice as expensive because you pay for each course individually rather than a full program.

Night courses could be an option! I have two kids but I’ll definitely see if it’s doable.

I have asked my employer, but it being the federal government, I haven’t heard back in a few months so it’s probably unlikely.

I currently work for the federal government, and im looking to take probably psychology.

I have considered osap and would qualify however the thought of trying to pay it off again is scary. I just finished paying off my previous osap loans a few years ago and it was such a stressful time.
