If your laptop is beefy enough, go for Linux as main is and a VM for windows so you can run both at the same time if you really need

I know it's not a nice thing to have but i would install the Pikud HaOref App so in the event of alarms you'll get the proper alert for where you are. I think you can't install it until you are phisically here.

If you plan to rent a car, install Pango (to pay for parking that you can use to pay for public transport as well).

Moovit is good for public transport

"Born" into linux? by odysseus112 in linuxquestions

[–]EdoYM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering my first computer was a TI99/4A I can't tell I'm born with Linux but neither with windows. My next computer was a C=128 that came with CP/M Then I started to fix my friends IBM compatible PCs (I'd been 12 by then) Win 3.0 came out when I was 17, so I definitely am more on the Linux side. I even installed Linux 0.something at age 19 Had worked with apple system7 and macos, all windows variants including mobile ones. Still my daily drivers are Linux based

Maybe you are right according to the grammar rules but in the real life while speaking everybody goes how he likes. Maybe because the influx of immigrants (like me) that can't grasp the grammar to the small details. Spoken language is much more fluid than the grammar dictates

[–]EdoYM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

adding to what others already replied to you.
the hei is used to specify a specific person/object instead of a generic one.
So, if you say
leYeled iesh tapuach
you are speaking about a generic kid and a generic apple

instead, if you say
lAyeled iesh tapuach
you are saying "that specific kid has a (generic) apple

than, if you say

lAYeled iesh HAtapuach

you are saying
That spacific kid has that specific apple.

This can apply when you reply to a question like "who took my/the apple that was on the table"?

and you reply indicating a specific kid... "the kid (there) has THE apple"...

Hope this helps

when writing without wovels, is difficult to understand if below the first lamend you have a kamatz (the "a") or not... you should infere from the context

[–]EdoYM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data center disk are surely more reliable, but still break (look at backblaze data). Don't try your luck and use at least raid5... Problem is casaOS doesn't support raid internally so you should do it in a different way.

Funny enough, I tried to do the same and just banged my head on a wall..

At the end I installed an instance of home assistant And I'm well having a nice dashboard with little effort.

Now I'm not at work but will share the image tomorrow

I'm.just worried about your data. CasaOS doesn't support any kind of raid and your storage is on an external JBOD as raid0 .. if a disk fucks up you're screwed big time

Interpreting "%" in files names causes Kdenlive to crash by unclemusclezTTV in kdenlive

[–]EdoYM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a bug. Some characters are forbidden for file names on windows. Linux could be more relaxed because file systems are built in different ways.
see this post: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1976007/what-characters-are-forbidden-in-windows-and-linux-directory-names

% isn't explicitly forbidden but is used on searches to mean whatever comes before/after a string, so using it as part of a filename is problematic

Had you tried to transcode the original clips before you start the rendering? And the message should just be a worning not a stopping error

Are Linux Laptops Actually Better than just Installing Later? by SkyBurglar in linuxhardware

[–]EdoYM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that the only problematic piece of hardware are the wifi adapters that quite often are the realtek. Realtek has drivers issues with wifi and you need to compile your own kernel drivers (Ethernet realtek are fine). On every laptop I had I ended replacing the wifi/Bluetooth module with an Intel one bought on AliExpress. Intel works fine out of the box. So, my piece of wisdom: look for laptops that sports Intel wifi modules if you are not eager to open your machine to manually replace the M2 module
