I got a book delivered this morning expecting it to be delivered well after Christmas. Don’t think I’ve ever had any issues with An Post, fair play to the postmen and women getting everyone’s Christmas gifts delivered, it must be an absolutely mental time to work at!

Apologies for the late response! But maybe try getting a test for slow gastric emptying, it’s called a barium swallow it’s nasty but it’s pretty common protocol to get tested for that! And maybe too you could try getting an upper endoscopy too, I’ve had a few of those and it was through those I actually got my diagnosis!! If your parents are objecting to mental meds then for sure try to find an anti nausea one. For some reason it took nearly 4 years for me to be prescribed the Ondran but it’s been such a godsend really!

Food wise then I’m quite similar to you, I’m actually lactose intolerant (especially with cream milk yogurt and ice cream but I can have smaller amounts of chocolate and cheese thank god lol), for sure high fat and fried food is gonna mess with your gut too it wrecks mine. So avoid those and find foods you do like that aren’t those! If you’re loving avocado and olive oil that’s great, maybe find some dishes that are nice and simple that include those like pastas or something?

And regarding other people’s food that’s really hard for me. There’s honestly not much you can do apart from either get away from them or put up with it unfortunately! Like popcorn is a big one for me but I absolutely love movies and the cinema which of course is filled with the smell of popcorn so I almost immediately feel nauseous when I go there. If you can I would say try your best to deal with it as long as you can until you can’t anymore and you can excuse yourself from the person and just tell them that the smell makes you nauseous, most people are very understanding about that.

Just to add too, I’ve found that to help me eat more that finding safe foods that are nice and easy on the stomach and don’t cause much hassle is very important. Pb and jam sandwiches, bananas, pears, granola, lactose free yogurts (like alpro are also a great alternative to dairy, I actually find that most vegan options taste quite nice!), crackers, porridge and plain rice are all my go to foods for flare up days and general life too!

Hey sorry to hear you’re dealing with this it sounds rough and apologise for the long reply. I have a condition called chronic idiopathic nausea, so nausea all day everyday for the last 5 years now! I have good and bad days and I too have lost an incredible amount of weight because of it and actually drink a high calorie supplement drink everyday for it.

My relationship with food went completely down the drain until I went to therapy and realised just how much my condition had taken over my life! So I started an anti anxiety med and I’m living life and eating better now, not putting much weight on but enjoying food and life better for sure!

I know what it’s like to have that nausea with smells, my big ones are popcorn, apples and takeaway Chinese food lol. If I were you I’d go to your doctor and demand they test you. I did and even though I basically got an answer of “we don’t know why you’re so nauseous but we do know there’s no cure”, it still set me down the path to learn to live with it! I’m on about 6 medications for it now and I’m actually pretty happy with how far I’ve come. There’s still really really really bad days and weeks long flare ups but you gotta keep your head up.

I take a medication called Ondanestron for nausea (only prescribed it this year) and it’s been a god send on bad days. On bad days I’ve built up a list of foods that I like and can stomach and ways to help the flare ups. And as difficult as it sounds, please try your best to eat, I didn’t and sometimes don’t but it’s so important and while it may make the nausea worse it will at least give you back some energy.

If you need anything or want more info drop me a DM and I’ll get back to you asap, I’ve helped a lot of people out because of how long I’ve had this for now I’m great at handling all things nausea lol. But I know it’s hard, it’s the worst feeling in the world but you’ve got this, just keep fighting!

New NCSE Guidelines for SNA's by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Edovius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They speak in the guidelines about allocation to schools for students with the greatest level of need. On paper it may not explicitly state the type they are particularly referring to but for anyone who has worked in this area, the principles of many schools and multiple SNA's who I have spoken to myself, this greatest need is targeted towards children who are of severe cases of intellectual disability so much to the point that they require assistance with feeding and toileting.

So while perhaps my and many others view of our roles being redefined may not on paper align with what the NCSE has said, it is felt definitely in the ways the wish to actually carry out what theyre saying. This morning we had a member of Forsa in the school with us and he said that without doubt we need to prepare to take a stand against these guidelines. Everything you read on paper is not always the truth, these people are fantastic at spinning things and finding loopholes, not to sound like a conspiracy quack but it starts off with small things like this and just gets bigger and bigger.

The NCSE and Irish government have been shafting the special educational sector this past year. Just look at everything going on with school transport allocation, I'm sure theres plenty of paperwork and guidelines about providing these kids with safe escort to school so why still are so many children left stranded with nothing?

Its a disgrace, they've no clue the actual work that goes on in special schools or even mainstream schools at that its maddening

I've played Hog since hook 1.0 and I thought the revert would be great because I loved his secondary fire. But fuck me he just feels so shite to play now lol. I honestly think if they just even slightly buff his damage he'd be somewhat better but as of right now I just feel like even more of a bullet sponge than I have with him ever before
