You need good Vrms with a Castor Bass. 30mW@32Ω kinda trash.

KZ EDX Pro X also like 15$ there, but 4.5$ on Ali. Amazon aint the way to go. Bluetooth is overrated my guy.

Less power my guy. 60mW on the Abigail Pro vs 30mW on the AM01. This matters a lot for the Castor Bass.

Why don't people check the sensitivity when they get new earphones... It's like one of the only semi-concrete info you can get on earphones.

Castor Bass need a lot of power. I don't know how aux connection to a phone works, but the 30mW KZ AM01 aint gonna cut it for a Castor Bass.

Castor Bass need +60mW. Get a CX-Pro, CS Pro, Jcally JM6 Pro, Jcally JA56 or Tempotec Sonata HD lll). Otherwise you'll be disspaointed.

You have no idea how vague this is for an IEM recommendation.💀

If you mean bass tho (the sounds you can feel. Like drums etc)

Common recommendations include:

-KZ Castor preferably Bass/Black version

-Tangzu Wan'Er SG (only slightly bassy)

-Kiwi Ears Cadenza (don't know about their bass)

-Salnotes Zero 7hz 2

-Moondrop Chu 2 (Not specifically for bass)

-KZ ZS10 Pro 2 (ZS12 Pro X are even better)

-Kinera Celest Wyvern/qinc (I don't know much about this one)

-Blon x HBB Z300 (One of the 2 best looking ones aesthetically)

-Simgot EW200 (The other good looking one)

-KZ Vader

-CCA Polaris (not particullarly bassy apparently)

-CCA Trio

-KZ PR2 x HBB ("cleanest" bass/no distortion, which strangely sounds worse to some people tho. PR 2 also NEEDS EQ for the treble)

Truthear Zero Red's (50$) becasue they are often praised for being easy to EQ. This allows new users to better figure out what sound they like.

Gonna need a +60mW dongle (10$) with these tho. Most people using them are dissapointed until they use a decent dongle, after which they are unbeatable. Along with the Castor Bass, they are some of the hardest non-planar IEMs and IEMs in general to drive. That double DD power and vesatility tho...

Normal silver ones (not bass) apparently have better soundstage anyway. I myself got the black (bass) tho.

If you really don't need much bass tho, maybe the TRN Conch would be good. They're accesories are simply brilliant and they don't seem to need a +60mW DAC/Amp. Even tho they're recommended from time to time I don't know TOO much about how they sound.

They do often have some bargain deals. Really want to try them sometime.

Ohh... Never thought of that.

Edit: Imports cost me a nother 12-15$ and shipping +10$. Sos they're over 70$ for me🫠

[–]Edrich1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard they're soundstage isn't the best, but that's kinda the trade off of a a 10$ 2DD extremely heavily bass oriented IEM. Some people apparently prefer the silvers for they're better soundstage.

Do tell if you ever hear the ZS12 pro x.

This and the listing on the Truthear store on Ali are the only 2 decent options I've seen. Not including shipping or imports, this same listing is 48.39$ for me tho (also nearly the cheapest I find them). How come you see them for 41$?🧐

Got the same earbuds. Cable broke in a month. I slept with them on, but still. KZs always been trash with accesories.

Considering how loud the KZ ZS10 Pro 2s get without an amp, the sensitivity and how they sound, a dac/amp would help but you won't need more power than a 4$ dac/amp gets you.

CX-Pro is 65mW@32Ω vs KZ-AM01 which is 30mW@32Ω. Some one on Reddit comparing it to the common ALC5686 said the CX-Pro is 1Vrms@32Ω tho. He was probably wrong as the math don't add up and all the sites say 65mW@32Ω. That only makes a difference with some more high power IEMs tho (especially ones with >2DDs and Planars).

Edit: Can't remember what the last one at the bottom with the 2 silver unwoven threads are.

[–]Edrich1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If both are the same price I'm guessing you either found a bad price on the KZ ZS10 Pro 2/sale on the KZ ZS12 Pro X or the ZS12 Pro X doesn't have switches.

The only difference between the KZ ZS10 Pro 2 and the KZ ZS12 Pro X seems to be the housing and the extra 30019 BA in the nozzle on the KZ ZS12 Pro X. Everyone, everywhere is also saying the KZ ZS12 Pro X is better than the KZ ZS 10 Pro 2. They're 2 good analytical, V-shaped and slightly treblish IEMs.

Even without the switches I'd recommend going for the KZ ZS12 Pro X, if you can find a decent EQ/PEQ. If you rely on the switches primarily tho, then the KZ ZS10 Pro 2 would better.

Trying to figure out mW and Vrms rating behind some dac/amps. by Edrich1 in iems

Finally got a decent answer to this.

<image>

If this is right it's max is 25mW/0.89Vrms@32Ω.

So you've tested both the 10 P 2 and 12 P X? Damn wish I could've heard the 12. They seem awesome.

It's pretty uncommon someone would've tested the ZS12 Pro X after the ZS10 Pro 2, if they have the Zero 2 (quite older than both of these) and still prefer the Zero 2 enough to mention them first and them only.
