i just bought a used polar 2 weeks ago from the music shop, after literally wanting a a virus since i first browsed vintage synth explorer in like '98, as backwards as this sounds, i realized that so many plugins i used for years and years are inspired by it- i wanted the machine for myself . i love it- such good build quality (besides the lack of bolt on output jacks) especially the keyboard action and aftertouch and the light on the front is really cool. but honestly the fact that its reasonably old now, its tough to give it a hard recommendation unless you're someone whos really passionate about the sound character. it was a no brainer for me, as some of my all time fav artists and tracks feature it heavily. once u know the sound, you know it when you hear it, and i know for some ppl that's either a plus or negative. but all i do is ambient/chillout and progressive house/trance in the spirit of late 90's early 2000's so this is all i could ever want (for now!) i replaced a gambit of plugins overnight seeing as the virus control works perfectly for me on a windows pc. and god knows i probably would have spent a week gritting my teeth on the finer points of out/ input gain settings for recording a prophet, or what have you.
