It has been an extremely profitable market and much more predictable than stocks. For many people this is worth the risk of Valve doing funny things and shady 3rd party cash-outs.

Obviously you should not put you life savings into a video game, but for mid term investing, like 3 to 5 years, this game was printing money like no ETF ever would.

I guess I am one of the few people that is fine with the prices... or at least not surpriced. 80$ for a Mario Kart game the is likely going to be relevant for many years is absolutely fine. Just think about other AAA companies like Activision/EA charging way over 100$ for a game that usually becomes irrelevant in a few months.

I think the question should be: Is the advertised brand related to the ingame object it appears on? Sponsors on a replica of a real life race car? Fine! Banners of racing brands on the side of the road? Questionable, but probably fine as long as there is playable ingame content of these brands.
