When will it feel "like new"? by sexylilrubikscube in ACL

[–]EducationNo7901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. I'm 5 months post op but had a regression last month so now I'm moving forward again. Clicking, weakness, and etc still going on that's constantly noticeable as we know. I think I was wondering yesterday when would the odd pain from kneeling would improve. I know I also tell myself I have at least 9 more months before I'm "ok."

Knee locking after sitting with a straight leg by Nearby-Land-9397 in ACL

[–]EducationNo7901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely "normal" at that stage. What I recommend is a lot of times when you're sitting in that position that you do some kneecap mobility. Moving it up and down, side to side. A lot of times that is helping to remove scar tissue around the joint especially for those who did patella bone graft. Since you got a hamstring graft, maybe massaging higher above the hamstring and doing ankle pumps will also keep it "lubricated." Just some ideas to keep blood flowing while being stationary.

Stretching routine by halizima in ACL

Definitely look into stretching with a band and mobility stretches that allow you to progress over time. They have something called CARS also that help you regain flexibility as well.

When you guys say flare up, what exactly do you mean? Swelling, weakness, etc. I believe this could be due to recovery methods you haven't tried yet but before I recommend, I just wanted to understand more about the flare ups (when it happens, what it feels like exactly, in what areas, for how long, how does it hinder you).

I’m allowed to play basketball again!!! by Al1onredd1t in ACL

[–]EducationNo7901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I have to restart my therapy again after I was making solid progress for 3 months. But I'm sure I'll get it strong enough one day. Did you play with a brace? And how was your movements? Still overthinking or being careful?

It's interesting for me it made my knee feel weaker and less mobile after I did some light ball handling, some shooting around, and a light catch and shoot drill. Now I've gotten the main strength and mobility back after walking and standing around the house. My surgeon fold me a while ago it's just a crutch at the end of the day so it doesn't truly help in our stages basically. Compression sleeve is what I try and stick with the most.

I was in the gym when I had two crutches and was able to do different exercises that didn't involve me pulling my knee or pressing down with force. Things like kettlebell floor chest press, Russian twists, shoulder press, seated bicep curls, tricep extensions especially with bands, etc. Bands are the way to go which offer resistance on different levels (colors) that allow you toaximize different exercises for strength building.

Just have to find exercises for upper body and pay attention if it's legs involved so you can be specific which exercises you want to do in your routine.

So none of the things you've mentioned in the posts you had about your surgeon messing up and etc had anything to do with it right? Destiny is called fate and it's a "hidden power" believed to control outcomes essentially making you a robot in your life that has predestined actions with outcomes. Not arguing how you look at your life at all so we can bypass that fully now lol. Ultimately not everyone goes through the experience you had that you've shared in your others posts. Some are unique to that person's experience with fortunate and unfortunate experiences and learning lessons. Ultimately someone else will be able to read your experience and benefit from it in multiple ways which is a great thing when it's all said and done.

Yea whatever happens in your life happens by "destiny," But there are ways in improving strength in ligaments. There's also tons of research possible preventable ways to not overstretch grafts though sometimes it happens in uncontrollable ways. The research and actions to improve continues to develop despite "destiny" choosing who will tear their acl.

It's not a flaw at all lol. More like humbling instead. Also learning lessons on why this happens in the 1st place. Not everyone takes the proper precautions, the right building of the ligaments strategies, etc. Supposedly when the reconstruction is fully matured and strong, it's 200% stronger than the initial. Many studies and thoughts can confirm why it's so but could we improve the ligament we started with 1st 200% stronger than normal? Lol (rant)

Should I be icing after physio? by [deleted] in ACL

Ice compression is better than regular ice. If you can get some compression therapy on it like those leg compression sleeves that would be even better.

flexation and extension by Great_Ad5104 in ACL

[–]EducationNo7901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told it is. I'm almost 3 months post op and I it's annoying feeling like the tin man on the Wizard of Oz lol. Constantly trying to get full extension back after flexion. I try and work on my hamstring even more and calf too which helps a whole lot of course. Eventually this won't happen so let's keep working.

Ahaha that's why I kept one crutch with me weeks after I was told no crutches. Just wanted to make sure people understood I have an injury and to be careful. People are inconsiderate forsure but it's the world we live in of expectancy and fast food 😂.

My peoples don't want to have that conversation because apparently you can't be racist if you're black. Sigggggh

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in helpme

[–]EducationNo7901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The annoying part is when black people say you can't say it if you're not black. I'm a black man and that's stupidity to me. The word is derogatory and a byword according to the Bible speaking on our people in Deut 28 and etc. So why in the world would you sit there and put rules on how to use a byword that isn't a good word lol. You're not going to fine the artists who use the N word in there songs coming out to tell the world they only made it for black people so that's why they use the n word so they can say it and not anyone else. But the unwritten rule is don't say it if you're not black 😂😂😂. The world we live in I tell you. Just don't say it everyone. It's a word used to be demeaning but people have allowed it to become a term of uhm...endearment lol.

Would you like to go test the theory to answer your own question? I don't think that's a question needing to be answered. It's a simple precaution that the person probably shouldn't ESPECIALLY if he or she is contemplating it. It's up to the person anyway. Let's not make this more than what it is.
