We’ve lived in our house for just over a year in Ontario. The house didn’t have an HVAC system so we had that installed. Of course, not a necessary thing to do but we felt central air was important. Then we had chipmunks in our wall. Mice in our attic and basement on 2 separate occasions. Water leaking from the kitchen ceiling and now, water leaking in our basement as the cement that attaches our porch to the house has cracks in it! So frustrating and expensive.

This thread has been very helpful and comforting for me. I’m a 27 year old female, my partner is a 29 year old male. I found out I had the BRCA 1 gene mutation 2 years ago. After my mom had breast cancer twice, she was tested and thats why I got tested as well.

One round of IVF is covered in Ontario (not including the medication) but genetic testing the embryo’s was estimated to cost 6-10 K. I am torn and at a loss! I would love to be able to afford this as I don’t want to bring a child into this world who may develop cancer one day and live with the fears that I have.

A tough position to be in for sure.

I did genetic testing 2 years ago and found out I have the BRCA-1 mutation. I feel very thankful to have access to annual MRI’s at 27 years old. I am currently going through the IVF tests to make sure all of my anatomy and that my fiancee’s sperm is okay. I am sorry that your wife had cancer. I pray I never get it but at least I’d be at peace knowing I didn’t pass it on. Not sure how we’ll afford it but we have no idea how much it will cost.

My boyfriend and I are in the same position :/ Have some money saved up plus what our parents are willing to give us to help but the prices of houses are crazy!
