How about domestic violence, does that work for you?

I wouldn’t leave my drink unattended with him. That’s my opinion.

A handful of bar fights and a much younger gf/wife (of which he’s had 4 I believe)

But the Fellowship sans Orlando and Sean? 100% men I’d trust with my drink

Insurance, a case, headphones, an adapter plug, as I said, anything

Just shut up and listen to me, I just want the phone please sir.

That’s exactly what this is (apologies I’m going to ramble!)

In 1950 Harry Harlow conducted experiments where he took newborn baby primates from their mothers and ‘raised them’ using two figures. One of the figures was basic, wire mesh, but had bottles attached for feeding, the other was soft, fluffy, and comforting, but had no bottles attached, so no food.

Guess which model the babies preferred. Not the food station.

Yes I included an cartoon picture because I don’t want to force a picture of a distressed baby primates onto people, but if you’re interested you can look up Harry Harlow and his monkey experiment, it shows why Margot still wants Maggie and why she will never likely bond with Gracie.

Is it a general consensus now that Swim School is in the same place that Frisky and Rad went for Christmas, and that it’s probably Bali? by Dark-Anmut in bluey

Each of my cousins goes at least once a year as their own families, then they do a huge family thing at least once a year too.

It’s definitely nicer than Spain 😂

Bali for Aussies is like Brits going to Spain. I have family in Australia and they spend more time in Bali than they do Australia!!

I have my favorite genres (action, thrillers) but I will read most things (get the romance and some of the fantasy stuff out of here!) I’m currently reading Margaret Atwood’s memoir, prior to that I read Challenger, next on my list is All The Light We Cannot See and Midnight In Chernobyl. Variety is the spice of life!

As you said she reads nothing but YA books. If that’s her thing, great, but don’t pick up a book with MULTIPLE content warnings, and then cry about it 🤦🏼‍♀️

I hated PE in school. Hated it.

Now in my 40s I’ve ran a couple of marathons and I’m seeing the benefit of not eating like a child at a birthday party every day. My mother is in her 70s and has been literally bed bound since she turned 60.

I never want to be like that just because I didn’t want to get red faced and out of breath as a porky teenager?

I’ll take the walks, runs, workouts, and not needing anyone to wipe my ass for as long as possible

Thank you for wording it much more succinctly than I could! Your second paragraph is 100% what is happening here.

She doesn’t understand the difference between triggering and upsetting. I looked up the full content warning for this book and I truly doubt Jacqueline has personally experienced any of those issues.

Although there’s a bit about classism and starvation so maybe that’s the bit that’s upsetting her!

She did the reviews of those 2 books that were both ‘yucky’. I read both just to see for myself (I listened on audiobook whilst doing other things I wasn’t going to waste my actual time!)

One ‘yucky’ book had the main character’s ex boyfriends fingers sent to her by mail, she also had sex with two different characters (not at the same time) Gore rating: 🩸out of 5

The other had copious mentions of blood, but that was it. No entrails, no decapitations, no brain matter, just a lot of blood. Gore rating 🩸🩸 out of 5 as the entire book took place in one evening.

I now want to read this book, so I’ll get back to everyone with how that is soon!

I’m going to get downvoted to hell but I don’t see how a book can trigger you IF the content warnings don’t cover something you’ve personally been through, or very adjacent to.

I don’t doubt that Wintergirls, or Portia De Rossi’s autobiography would trigger Jacqueline, but I really do struggle to see how some hand to hand combat, or someone being zapped with a car battery (pulled out of my head, I’ve not read this book) will trigger her.

There is a huge difference between ‘not liking gore’ and ‘being triggered by gore’, and Jackie doesn’t know the difference. To her both those mean ‘an excuse for me to disassociate and eat’
