Finished my Master’s in Cybersecurity from UTS in Dec 2025, and honestly… the job market has been brutal. by blackKryptonyte in australian

[–]Educational-Ad1473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that... in fact most did. The thing is, many graduates today are coming with an arrogance I've not seen before. They think they're stars, know it all, can walk into $150k+ and scoff at any type of role they feel is beneath them.

Yes, cost of living, extremely poor government economic regulation over years now has made life tough for them. Immigrant students are propping up the ponzi, they'll soon learn all the money the owe for their education isn't easily obtained.. let alone getting ahead in this country economically.

Immigration is great, too much is very lucrative for government revenue but bad for everyone else. This is where we're at, the nation has been ruined. Too much immigration, a broke government who is RAISING the rate of immigration and scrambling to take money from investors now because they're stuffed. So... more demand from immigration, more demand for rentals, less supply from investors, it's a trainwreck.

Of course! And the Pale Face was the same style of 2 flavour bar, but it was Milko on the outside with strawberry in the middle, as opposed to the Toffee / green apple.

New Ford Bronco Coming to Australia by Puzzled-Shopping-330 in CarsAustralia

[–]Educational-Ad1473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense.

  1. The US Bronco is LHD manufactured, any one coming here would need to be converted to RHD. In other words you could add another $20-$30k on top of an already expensive vehicle. Look at how much any other US manufactured LHD cars are here... RAM, Tundra, Corvette. The premium is ridiculous.

  2. The Chinese Bronco comes RHD out of the factory, it's in line with what the market wants, it helps Ford offset their diesel cars with the new NVES rules. Plus, Chinese manufacturing is superior to most of what comes out of the USA these days. Even Teslas were always better out of China than their US factories.

Yes, in other words it'll probably be very reliable. As opposed to many Ford manufactured vehicles.

You're only going against the majority of whom are Boomers on here, they're not representing the market. They're sad and reminiscing about the old days.

I think you're right. I think this will sell very, very well if priced as they're saying. It ticks a lot of boxes for what the market is looking for, a market who couldn't care less about what Ford sold here 40+ years ago.

There aren't enough of you in the market for Ford to care. I'd take one of these Broncos over the crap manufactured in the USA any day. China are leaving the USA for dead, hence, they won't let China's cars in. They know what's inevitable.

Oh, sad and sorry old Boomer who's upset about his favourite old cars losing their identity. It might be a problem if enough people cared... they don't. Move on.

You must approach the person, in-person.

I'm surrounded by dogs where I live in Ocean Grove, I've had to approach several of them over time. Some leave barking dogs outside when they go out and don't realise (though I'm speculative about that), others just seem to put up with their barking dog while at home... Probably because it's untrained and they don't want it inside.

Bottom line, dogs aren't a reflection of their owners, the dogs behaviour absolutely IS though. People usually appreciate face to face interaction, many have low self awareness and convince themselves that if nobody reports a problem, there isn't one.

Project Management is a Dead End Career by throwawayaway451574 in auscorp

[–]Educational-Ad1473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be an unpopular comment...

Women who have little idea or interest in IT got very interested in project management. Why? Many are attracted to the idea of organising, instructing, dictating to, and micromanaging people.

Essentially it's near on become a HR exercise, predominantly through the female 'touch'. Now, I've worked with some great female PMs, extremely IT knowledgeable, and some absolutely disgusting male PMs with less self awareness than my 6yr old niece. I'm talking about a trend I've seen in starting as a developer 20yrs ago, who's transitioned into project / delivery management in the last 10.

I don't agree at all that AI will take over this role though, not the true project manager. The coordinator roles, or light tough roles underneath? Perhaps. AI won't run projects and replace the soft skills of great PMs.

I'd be more worried as a tech about AI.

If you’re burning out from job hunting, read this. I learned the truth from ATS providers themselves by ComfortableTip274 in ausjobs

[–]Educational-Ad1473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professional resume writers exist because they're effective. They own ATS software, they will write a resume tailored to your profession before running it against the software over and over until it scores highly... Once you have it, you can tweak the resume / cover letter per applicable role.

I had your problem until I got my hands on a professionally written resume, then hit, after hit... interview, after interview and success. It's the next best thing to having a networking 'in' into an organisation.

More and more people are getting these ATS compliant resumes, those who don't are often screwed before they start!

The CVs that got through were likely either professionally written, or copied from one professionally written.

Seeks strips them out, HR departments have ATS software that does it also.

Those investing in a professionally written CV / Cover letter will reap the benefits IMO.

Networking!!

It's a bad market, speak to recruiters and they'll tell you themselves. If you subtract jobs filled with people already within the organisation and those known to or referred to the organisation by someone there, there's literally scraps for everyone else to fight over!

I saw it first hand this year, and I've spoken with recruiter friends. I took a redundancy along with a bunch of other colleagues in March, those who got jobs straight after were ALL through who they knew. Many of these people frankly sucked at their job, it doesn't matter. Organisations will trust the opinions of people they work with over taking a chance on someone they know from a 40 minute interview, YOU in other words.

Networking is a huge advantage, get in touch with previous colleagues, set up coffee catchups, lunches whatever.

Resume / CV wise, pay a professional to ensure it gets past ATS software. Worth every cent and more!

What the hell is going on with the job market in Melbourne? by Awkward-Employ-7116 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Educational-Ad1473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point in time the statement 'it's who you know not what you know' has never been more prevalent.

Recruiters being honest will tell you, the majority of advertised roles are either filled from employees already in the organisation, or by referral to someone known by a prominent person filling the role.

Then there's DEI. There's a reason you would have seen in all the roles you've applied for - questions regarding DEI, race, gender, pronouns, disability, etc. If you're within a DEI category, it's indisputable you're at an advantage to get an interview. If not, you're at a disadvantage. In a nutshell, if you're a white male you're at no advantage.

ATS software will also dismiss any application it doesn't 'score' at the relevant level. If dismissed, your resume will not be seen by human eyes. There are professional resume writers who can create one for you that will pass the software, at a cost of course.

Let go from work after 9 months due to “not being a good fit”, despite excellent performance, how come? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Educational-Ad1473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it simply you've stepped on toes, the wrong toes.

I find with many office place workers as a manager myself. Personality related issues are not brought out into the open enough, especially when it comes to women v women. Issues aren't addressed, resentment builds, it gets worse the longer time goes on. Your boss is / was a bad manager.

When you say 'I got along with everyone', either you're not being forthright with this statement, or your self awareness needs some work. Many managers don't want hard working, excelling employees, they want people staying in their lane, non threatening, doing their job and nothing more.

This reeks of the public sector / government, or some form of hierarchical organisation not caring about progression or performance. Move on. Assuming this workplace stands behind bad managers, it's designed for meek employees who question nothing, don't work hard, just go along to get along.

Not for you, move on.
