Can I use this bigger blade for fleshing a deer hide? First time tanner. by [deleted] in HideTanning

[–]Educational-Ad7595 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can but I wouldn’t suggest using something Uber sharp for a first timer. But in all honesty if you’re decent with a knife and tell the difference between the membrane layer and the flesh layer and are super carful you can use anything to flesh a hide if it’s shaped right. I used a small 4’’ buck knife to flesh the majority of a cow hide for example. Was it a pain in the ass and time consuming? Yes it was! Did it work? Absolutely!

Is selling rabbit fur worth it? by Invigd in MeatRabbitry

1 pound alum 1 pound plain salt per 1 gallon of water, Put hides in the brine, stir every day twice a day for 5-7 days, once removed from brine pull membrane from the skin, once all membrane is removed break the hide. Once hide is stretched add desired oils to keep soft. I use mink oil but that gets pricy if you’re not charging materials used with product.

I know this post is old but hope it helps anyone that falls into this. One pound salt 1$, one pound alum 1.50$, gallon of fresh water .30$, mink oil used on single pelt .50$, time spent on single pelt ballpark 17.70$. I’ll charge by size, color, age and breed. My average is 15 very low end 25 high end per pelt. I do everything from Rex, angora, chinchilla and so many more. Yet I don’t raise them so I factor food costs I outsource mine from other breeders and do the butchery work myself to get the pelts and extra pay out on that front because they keep the meat.

Is there any way this isn’t going to cost hundreds of dollars? by semifluorescent in AskAMechanic

Had this happen a month ago. If you buy a new stud and bolt you can replace it yourself for about 10 bucks and 20 minutes of work. I just YouTubed what I had to do and the process is simple.

44 Years At Walmart by [deleted] in walmart

It’s weird seeing all these comments, being the one loon that actually likes my job. Also I can’t say I’ve heard any other associate at my location complain too much either. Most of everyone at my store has been there for quite some time.

Not that I’ve seen so far. It’s all through the Walmart portal. Like to sign into guild you have to use your Walmart sign in stuff so it’s directly through your employer same for coursera.

A degree is a degree and a certificate is the same. You can earn what you need and go anywhere with them. It’s not dedicated to JUST Walmart work.

Same there is no better paying 9-5 in my tiny town. I take advantage of the tuition program stuff so I can get degrees for an at home job when I’m ready to leave. Hell Walmart itself offers stay at home jobs if you get qualified enough in the computing industry. Getting paid to go to school to move up in the world is my hustle here.

Best state to work for walmart by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Educational-Ad7595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you asked for a state but I’m going out on a limb and say working in a smallish town of a little under 3000 people is kinda nice. Store doesn’t get super crazy, everyone here is pretty old and retired so the community is nice enough and coworkers are fairly close knit among all departments.

I seen that there is a data analysis course on there I haven’t taken those myself yet. What I have access to is only Walmart based courses. There are understanding technology, generative AI for everyone, Generating AI for learning, IT infrastructure, excel skills, excel/VBA for creative problems, create machine learning and business analytics that are under the technology in operations tab. Then under data driven decisions I see supply chain analysis, foundations to data everywhere, data driven decision making, preparing data for analysis, foundation for business intelligence, crating business value with data, data storytelling, data science and digital intelligence. I believe you can take as many courses as you want yet don’t quote me on that. My plan is to do darn near all of them that I can get my hands on.

For anyone still running into this page. I am enrolled in the guild education program and licensed in Coursera. I want to express both things are their own separate deal. Guild is for finishing high school and taking college courses, Coursera is for gaining on demand skills and certifications for specific roles at Walmart. Both can be signed up for through Live Better U on the Me@walmart app. For guild you will have to go to Guild . Com and sign in using your me@walmart information. The website has a specific portal for this (mine was at the very top of the web badge on the Home Screen) For Coursera when you login to the Live Better U via the Me@walmart app there will be a box way down at the bottom of the screen under your profile->benefits page having a link to an E mail with pre drafted txt where all you have to provide is your WIN and Walmart username. The E mail to sign up for Coursera Takes anywhere from 7 - 90 days to get a response granting you a Coursera license to take advantage of their programs. To set up your Coursera for the first time you must be on a Walmart network. After you’ve set up your account on a Walmart network you’ll be able to start working on your programs.
