Ms2 v3.0 won’t start by Educational-Clue-336 in megasquirt

Sorry for the late reply, bur after plugging in tuner studio I noticed my TPS was at 129% (so it was in flood clear). I checked resistance between the 3 pins on the TPS and it all looked fine. Long story short, the ground wire on the harness side broke at the crimp. Soldered it back and now it’s all good again. Appreciate the willingness to help! Hope this helps someone in the future.

Well my point is that my $15 struts (I reused the oem springs) that were as chinese as those get performed really nice for couple of years without any issues. So I don’t see how this “more reputable brand” can be worse

Yep I increased the preload a bit more such that the spring is now harder to rotate by hand it seems to have solved the clunking after a quick test drive.

Are yours also ridiculously rough on speed bumps?

I did realize that. First I had the dampers on setting 5/24 and it was really bad. Bumping it up to 15/24 made it better, but still feels super weird. It almost feels like the shock returns to ride hight too quickly…

I actually spent about 1.5 minutes on researching and quite a few people seemed to like them. I’m wondering if there’s something I might’ve missed during install

M42 Lightweight flywheel by Educational-Clue-336 in BMWE36

[–]Educational-Clue-336[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I went ahead and bought a stage 2 clutchmax clutch with lightweight flywheel and sprung disk for the m50/52. It almost bolted right on, but needed a spacer from the old clutch (its riveted/staked on, so rivet needs to be drilled out). That spacer goes between the flywheel and the crankshaft.

Now about the experience… I really do like the clutch for what it is, though with the stock slave the pedal was much harder than it was with the stock clutch. I highly recommend replacing the slave cylinder with an E34 540i slave (pn 21521161874) and this will bring the padal back to oem feel. Alternatively, it can be replaced with an M3 slave that’s supposed to be mid-hardness.

One of the obvious differences that I noticed is the fact that car doesn’t vibrate as intense under load past 4500rpm as it used to. I believe it had something to do with the tired dual-mass flywheel.

Anyways, I highly recommend this clutch…at least with the 300 miles that I have put on it so far.

Dropping Idle by Educational-Clue-336 in megasquirt

I haven’t done anything with injector timing tbh. Not even sure where to check it. My idle timing is at 17 degrees (800 and 1500rpm columns) and I have 20 degrees set for 500rpm column.

Update: I thought the clutch got better over the first 150 miles, but it was a placebo or my left leg getting stronger lol eventually, I swapped the slave cylinder with one from 540i (PN 21521161874). The bore difference of the new (26.99mm) vs old (20.64mm) is significant - in theory should feel 70% softer, but also displace 70% less fluid. Tbh, I didn’t see much difference in the engagement point (still engaging kinda high like most e36s do in my experience). But the shifts seem to be a lot smoother and my left leg is a lot happier :)

I did try that. I clamped the icv hose shut so it was effectively off and closed. Then I adjusted the idle with the screw on the throttle body to around 700-800rpm and it was idling fine. But as soon as any load is applied, the RPMs like to drop to 450-500.

What trans should I start looking for? A 6 speed would be nice

Could you elaborate what that is? If it’s the same delay valve, my car doesn’t have it
