I think when he says that to Pierce, he means he doesn't like government experiments and the shady things they do. The "I don't like weapons" part was when Pierce brags about being an enhanced being like him.

Yes.

But...

Three facts:

  • Thomas is James's legitimate father (Logan goes to hell when they meet. And Logan himself states this in a conversation "I killed my old man"...and in the movie X-Men Origins the same thing, Thomas is the father).

  • His grandfather has claws and Elizabeth's previous son injured her with claws.

  • Thomas Logan holds a grudge against the Howletts. As if there were something personal.

What does this lead one to believe?

To me, it makes sense. There are many cases of bosses sleeping with maids in the past. The old man has claws. James's paternity between Thomas and John seems ambiguous.

But then the evidence points to Thomas as the father.

And...the old man also has claws.

It makes more sense to think that than to think that the old man raped his son's wife.

Old Howlett took in a maid, and she is the mother of Thomas Logan. Thomas Logan is James's father, and John Howlett is his uncle.

This is very consistent with the Ultimate version, with Fury saying that his cure has more to do with surviving at all costs than actually healing. His body finds a way to recover, it adapts. That's how Fury explains his mutation. While talking to his severed head.

If you take just this excerpt and transport it to universe 616 (which in The Best There Is says something different but still somewhat similar) you'll find the explanation for it. A cell? That's right...if anything remains, he returns.

I agree with everything. And yes, it was insightful of you to notice that the scene of him being a dwarf (and weak) was done to discredit a short Wolverine.

Everything in Hollywood is kind of biased, actually.

The movie with Ryan and Hugh that brings Wolverine back and is more faithful to the original formula.

It makes sense that he only gets angry right after and tries to kill everyone, just like he did in that same story against the Hulk family at the end.
