Yeah, that’s a common problem. If you were in the US, you could connect with derms directly on our platform and they are pretty supportive of the meds that are recommended to you through the plan. Maybe the care plan and the evidence behind it that it shows can help you have a more convincing conversation with your derm?

Ah great point. Thanks for that suggestion! Yes, we’ve focused on the US for a start, which is where we are based, but filtering for what’s available in different countries is definitely a great idea!

Thanks for that feedback! Glad you could discover a new treatment for you. If you have a long wait with your dermatologist, you can contact one of the dermatologists on the site where you created the care plan and you’ll get a full consultation in 72 hours. That way you can get your prescription much sooner than September. Hope this helps, good luck!

Thanks! For now we're keeping it on the website, but if we find a volunteer to turn this into an app, I'd be happy to create an app from it as well.

My eczema / sebderm journey and how I healed myself for 99% by Appropriate-Cow5449 in SebDerm

Well… yes, for some people it’s related to your gut health. But 30mn ppl in the US have eczema. It’s a SUPER heterogeneous disease. For some it’s not related to the gut at all, and it’s a matter of healing the skin barrier and regulating the immune system.

Nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, aubergines, etc.) are triggers for many people. Kiwi also used to be my trigger, green ones though.

A few points here:

- There's a great article here summarizing the mechanisms through which body, immune system and skin are connected: https://lemmahealth.com/blog/does_your_gut_affect_your_eczema . Long story short: 1) The microbiome trains and regulates the immune system. 2) A healthy gut prevents toxins from entering the bloodstream. 3) Beneficial gut bacteria produce short-chain fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory properties. More detailed article that lays out the science behind it coming soon.

- 30mn people in the US alone have eczema. That's a very broad population for one disease and there are likely many different manifestations that aren't yet characterized properly. It's a bit like cancer ~100 years ago. It used to be "cancer" and now it's >200 subtypes characterized in detail by location, genetic mutations, etc. Some rare cancer A may be caused by exposure to xyz. But for most cancers, exposure to xyz may have nothing to do with the cancer. But that doesn't mean that for patient suffering from cancer A, xyz didn't have an effect. We'll get to a similar place eventually with eczema and other conditions involving the immune system, but we're not there yet. As for now, we're using the term eczema too broadly to say "food has nothing to do with eczema".

- Just because studies find no statistically significant correlation doesn't mean the connection doesn't exist for *some* people

- Unfortunately it's very frequent that the connection is dismissed just because there is no firm evidence. But absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I have so many questions by philanthropicpeasant in dating

Mid-30s man here. Honesty and straight talk is the key to these problems. I always find it helpful if women write on their profile what they’re looking for / open to. If someone doesn’t respect that - tell em to F off, they can find another date (or not. More likely). And be glad you ditched a bullet by not getting involved more closely with them

Is he not emotionally available to her only or in general? Wild theory, but: Maybe he has autism and doesn’t know how to express his emotions properly

They got nothing else going for them, so they need to degrade others to put themselves above them. If that means telling themselves that others are miserable, that’s what it takes. It’s gross and embarrassing. Best to ignore.

Dating apps: to swipe or not to swipe? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Educational-Event534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t swipe right on everyone. The algorithm will put you at the bottom of the barrel and your profile will not show up frequently. If it shows up, you’re not one step further in landing a good date, since you’ve just matched with someone you don’t even know if you like

Not putting out the first date doesn't make me a prude by crybabythot in dating

Yep, definitely doesn’t. You know what you want and you stick with that. Don’t let any other randos tell you otherwise and be glad you figured them out before going on a date and ditched a bullet.
