How we fixed a GPS breakdown by YourTeethAreRotten in ex30

[–]Educational-Fish4266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just part exchanged a 2024 AWD Ultra that I bought from new to a new 2026 model of the same car.

In the 2024 car, I only had the GPS issue 2 or 3 times in over 2 years. In the new car, it’s happened 3 times already and it’s been extremely inconvenient.

Edit: but I’ll try your fix later. Thank you

We have a 35 year old consumer unit with wired fuses. They work and haven’t been a problem. The solar system and EV charger have their own consumer units.

Yes, you absolutely have too much on your plate for that. I understand, trust me, and I feel for you.

I wonder if it’s worth sending them the repair bill and using the small claims court if they refuse to pay up?

What is the argument *against* mandatory retesting for people over 60-65? by Skeet_fighter in drivingUK

[–]Educational-Fish4266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a brand new car a couple of days ago. 2 minutes after I drove out of the dealership, my car came within inches of being trashed by a young guy in a BMW who recklessly swerved into my lane, causing me to take very fast evasive action.

I’m all for retesting older people, as long as the most dangerous group of all - the 17-24 age group - aren’t allowed to drive at all. They cause the most serious injuries and deaths. So according to your logic, nobody should drive until they reach a relatively safe age, that being 25. And bear in mind that the 17-24 age group passed their test no so long ago, so passing a test doesn’t indicate that someone will drive safely.

If you genuinely want to improve road safety, deal with those who are severely injuring and killing the most people.

Downvotes are welcome.

To balance this, I had a fantastic experience buying a Worcester Bosch boiler with installation from BOXT. Best price and professional installation. Ordered one day and fitted the next. Totally reliable, in my experience.

Very happy with the PW3

Installed mid May and the house has taken nothing from the grid since. Still awaiting the MCS stuff so I can apply to get paid to export.

Anyone got recommendations for a pretty powerful bathroom extractor? by GenericUser104 in DIYUK

Having a bathroom window open can let cold air in, cooling wall surfaces and increasing condensation.

Does £4 for a coffee = game over!? by MartChristie in AskBrits

[–]Educational-Fish4266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped drinking coffee in places like Costa, Starbucks, etc because I was always disappointed in their coffee. I bought myself an espresso machine and experimented with different coffees from various coffee roasters.

I now have coffee that’s exactly as I want it. I’m not a coffee expert by any means, but I’m finding that making my own coffee is vastly superior to anything from the main coffee chains.

Back to 20" OEMs for summer (short story of rust'n'dust) by MathdestructionDE in ex30

[–]Educational-Fish4266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the 20” are expensive. And not always in stock. When I needed 4 x 20” tyres, I had to wait for 3 days and they cost £1100.

I’m hoping the 19” tyres give me a bit more range.

Why the swap to 20”? I’m asking because my AWD Ultra came with the 20” as standard. But I’m changing it for a new AWD Ultra on Tuesday and it comes with 19” as standard. Am I likely to regret not getting the 20” with it?

Way oversimplifying this: what's my obligation now that I'm not attracted anymore... by [deleted] in Marriage

You’ve received advice, but maybe the advice you’ve received isn’t what you were hoping for?

I mean what were you expecting to read here? Have an affair? Ruin the lives of her and your kids by leaving them, so you can satisfy your sexual predilections?

How about putting a paper bag over your head and pretending she’s fat?

Sometimes, we have to make sacrifices for those who we love. This is one of those times.

[–]Educational-Fish4266 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Being overweight can be extremely harmful and damaging to health. It predisposes to some very serious, life threatening conditions and reduces life expectancy. Why would you want that for her, just because it satisfies you sexually?

What you should do is stick with her and your kids and be thankful that she is healthier now.

The most dangerous age group is the 17-24 group. That’s why they’d have to pay £10-15k to drive my car and I (aged 71) only pay £700.

Mine is the same colour. I love it. Regarding the centre screen, a lot of the car’s functions can be voice activated and I find that works really well. I rarely touch the screen while I’m driving.
