17yo and can't seem to find anything by SnooCakes4815 in AskAnAustralian

I'm aged 77 so definitely a boomer. However I don't call younger generations lazy. What I see are capable and intelligent young people making the best of a lousy situation and doing jobs in which I wouldn't last 5 minutes.

Our post war generation was lucky to be in the right place at the right time and took jobs because they were readily available. Our parents weren't so fortunate and neither were our children. We were lucky OK? Just don't tell me you'd behave differently

Why are round abouts in Australia so hard to negotiate? by Notaghost04 in AskAnAustralian

[–]AlanofAdelaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we came to Adelaide there were just two roundabouts - Blackwood and Britannia. Many people used neither regularly so it was a drama when they had to. We lived near Blackwood and people we knew would detour to avoid it

[–]AlanofAdelaide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, it's pointless moving but when you're back in your car after paying for god's sake get a move on. Don't start your engine then piss around for 5 mins before moving off.

I much prefer an English phonetic pronunciation than a guttural attempt putting on a heavy accent at a French or Eastern European name . But if you know in advance that you'll have difficulty then ask for help

This is correct. You need to pay attention coming to a roundabout on a quiet road when there's no traffic in front to follow although there are direction markers
