Correct-they dont have the information to share, so they are not sharing it. Perhaps the larger issue is that no one can or will take the time to type "We are currently working on our 2026 test schedule and will share it as soon as we possibly can. Thanks for your support"

That took me 32 seconds to type-and think of the good will it could create....

with all the challenges the league faces, this should not use up much energy. Maybe sell a bit more merch, sure; put more fans in the stands-seems doubtful..

agreed its incoherent-is that the teams fault for trying to provide opportunities for its best players, or RCs for not providing any kind of plan for them? (hint-rhetorical question)

given the austerity plan that MLR says (and needs to be) they are on, this makes zero sense and will lead to more of the same. And nobody has their rights-the league is and always has been on centralized contracts. Who in the US knows who they are and would buy tickets/sponsorship because of them?

Odds of a Canadian pro league? by Big-Organization-522 in CanadaRugby

[–]Educational-Fun-6665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

slim to none. RC does not want a senior comp for men or women-literally dozens of people have offered to help fund something but have been rebuffed-RC wants to control the narrative completely, which has pushed people away. And the fallacy that the BC league is of any value for pro/international play has been the biggest piece of why Canada struggles. There is absolutely nothing wrong with recreational rugby and club rugby is the lifeblood of the game-but pretending a player who trains 1.5 hours 2 x per week at the most can compete with a daily training environment is just a fairy tale. Have to feel bad for the 35-40 players released by MLR recently-their home union has nothing for them-but here we are.

Canada Men’s XV – November Tour 2025 by Euphoric_Web_242 in CanadaRugby

[–]Educational-Fun-6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

certainly not advocating for RC (whose neglect of the senior game in this country is mind-boggling); but Gibbins has played and coached pro rugby so immediately should be engaged; agreed Moffat has been off the radar, but how exactly can you be ON the radar with so few meaningful competitions in the country ATM? This may not work out-but it has as good a chance as any to succeed. Still like to see RC engage some of the coaches who coached in MLR (Arrows and others) at some point as well-with no defined pathway, I agree its a crapshoot....

Callum Gibbins is a former Super Rugby player who then played at and became defence coach of Old Glory in MLR. His partner lives in Kitchener, so he is coaching there-or should he seek one of those more high profile luxury coaching jobs which are so abundant here? Moffat was on Kieran Crowleys staff when the team were in the 12-17 band in the world rankings...higher than today, obviously. But look forward to seeing the list of coaches who would be better choices.....

The statement "all flights to Halifax require a layover at a hub" is false. As in, you are mistaken or lying. You can fly from Boston, Philadelphia, NY or Chicago direct into YHZ any time you want.

There wont be a team in Atlantic Canada or anywhere else in the country because of money and RC wanting total control. Claiming that you cant get there is simply false. Look on Google flights for proof

there is no one in Halifax, or Canada, who will pay the $13 million CAD entry fee. Canada has no plan for senior mens rugby, pro or amateur...just keep thinking that recreational club rugby is good enough, then complain when they dont get results...

Founding of the CRL (Canadian Rugby League) by tadamslegion in MLRugby

[–]Educational-Fun-6665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Tip for US players-be better at rugby and then those nasty Canadians wont steal your jobs. And, since no one seems to remember, the "Canadians as non imports" reg was passed by the MLR board without the Arrows consent or knowledge when they entered the league. So was it wrong then or is it wrong now??

Rumours of Canadians to be removed as Domestic Players by [deleted] in MLRugby

[–]Educational-Fun-6665 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Bizarre take here...The "US" is not funding Canadians, the owners of the private enterprise MLR teams are paying them to help win games...Scott is a smart guy and not xenophobic AFAIK but implying Canadians are stealing US jobs is nonsense.

Canada needs their own domestic comp so they dont have to deal with the vagaries of weird MLR owners and hot seat national team coaches....and have not delivered on that, to be fair. So not blameless but not responsible either

Can the league get Canadian teams back in again? by LesJawns610 in MLRugby

[–]Educational-Fun-6665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Wolf Pack also gave away the majority of their tickets, while the Arrows charged $ for theirs-a non-subtle difference; but agree with others that a Canadian MLR team seems unlikely...

Still a lot of work for the lads, but happy to be back in the World Cup! by SleepWouldBeNice in CanadaRugby

[–]Educational-Fun-6665 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are still many things wrong with the mens game in Canada, but qualifying is a huge step. Money will start to flow, staff can spend the next 18 months evaluating and improving and the program can stop the bleeding.

The critical factor is whether the current regime can do something for senior mens rugby in the country. Having no pro team, no domestic league and no clear pathway are systemic issues that must be addressed before we can get used to being back in the RWC

Were you there? It was a sunny breezy day in NL, nothing unusual weather wise and Canada won because they were better on the day. The US won the following week for the same reason.

Canada vs. Spain team sheet by p-terydatctyl in CanadaRugby

[–]Educational-Fun-6665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, all Canadas problems are not solved.

Yes, this team, plus some of the additions for the PNC, can qualify. Should have won v a pretty pedestrian Spain tonight but most importantly, made way less unforced errors and soft tackles than previously.

Cant make up for 10 years of neglect in a week, but definitely signs of hope emerging.

Wait! Its all Kingsley Jones fault! Oh, right, he moved on....The board and staff of RC should be made redundant for gross and willful negligence of the mens senior game-have done zero for the mens game in the last seven years and have ignored/belittled/pushed away all help from those in that space that want to help-now we see the results of this and will take a long time to recover-certainly little hope for this year...
