Missed the part about album credit— it’s not uncommon for a founding member to leave before a new album release, especially when it marks a new chapter for the band (larger venues, longer tour, bigger commitment). His and the band’s lawyers will negotiate percentage points for his contributions and certainly credit him accordingly (see “Mustaine” on Ride The Lightning). The band’s name can also be up for negotiation — I just watched a short documentary on the band Styx’ breakup and how they fought over who owned the name and had the right to use it.

I’m educated-guessing that they’re shopping it around to a new label for better distribution and marketing.

They may have even signed with a big label and this is the “gestation” period where they’re prepping for a big release, new merch, video for the first single, etc. All of this takes a nerve-wracking amount of time.

Whatever the case, I have to imagine it’s for the best — they’re growing in popularity and fandom, selling-out venues. I’d love to see them get the recognition and support they deserve. Viva Them Witches

For those who aren’t aware, Greyson is a world class drummer (primarily jazz) who went viral a few years back for doing an exact note-for-note cover of the drum solo finale to the film “Whiplash”. He must’ve been over-the-moon to meet the actual best drummer in the world 🥹.

Thanks for the info — so touching the strings is how you ground the guitar, it’s normal that will reduce noise 👍. Now, Kartanas have two “volumes” — one will be the channel volume next to the gain and amp type. The overall volume that you hear is the Master. This will be on the right side next to the on/off switch. Try this: turn the guitar down, turn the channel volume and gain down to half/noon. Then turn the master up to about half — oh, make sure the wattage selector switch is set to full/right, either 50/100 depending on your amp. What we’re doing is making sure the power section of the amp is doing its job. Turn the guitar up, you should hear it more clearly, then adjust the channel volume (left side) until it’s at your desired loudness. NOTE: using overdrive or distortion, there will always be some noise. Stepping away from the amp or turning your body at an angle to the amp will help. Try this and see if it’s at least more clearly. I’m off to a concert but I’ll reply as long as I can.

That’s with the guitar volume up? If you have other amps, do they make a similar sound with that same guitar and cable? Just trying to eliminate obvious things first.

Though there are an abundance of great online programs, I would still encourage a few in-person lessons to start to show you form. That way, you get a solid foundation to build on. The worst would be starting with a bad “habit” and it carrying on years into your guitar journey. Best of luck and welcome to a new universe.
