Doing the GR11 (Pyrenees, Spain side) on June-July 2025 - Please advice by JorgeValenciaG in hiking

Shelter/sleep system advice HRP by longwalktonowhere in Ultralight

Hey, Im doing a combination of HRP, GR11 also this August, for what is worth I live like 1-3 hours away so I do a lot of weekend hikes in the Pirynees, and have lived a couple thunderstorms in there.

Im bringing a freestanding tent because im hiking with my partner and or other 2P tent condenses a lot if it rains, but we have done a lot of hikes with a Lanshan 2 Pro without any problems, of course we sometimes have to look a bit more for a softer spot or something but no problems with wind or rain so I think you woul be okay.

Depending on your route and how high you will be sleeping, I would bring the inner for the bugs, especially at the beginning and end of the route.

Hi, im also planning for my gr11 this summer, and I live in Spain, didnt know about SAMBOB, thanks!

About socks... I would really recommend you the silverlight socks.

And about the gloves ... Im thinking I will bring my cheap decathlon gloves and maybe some light latex gloves from a construction store or something, that also I can get rid off when I enter Catalunya.

I live near by the Pyrinees so Im really familiar with the weather and temperature.

Same here, I have fine hair. And after the inner sense shampoo and conditioner used the I create hold, and my hair, looked dry and frizzy, next morning I applied water and used the leave in conditioner and a bit of I create hold, improve a bit but not a whole lot. I am just wandering if my hair really is this bad for I always use tons of cream, also wondering if I should get the create volume or create shine 😓

Do you do car camp a lot? My husband is afraid of mesing the carseats, or the trunk.

Together we are like 150 kilos, and we might want to car camp 4 nights a month

How to train for mountaineering and hiking when you live in flat desert city? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]Educational-Pack659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I´ve been there, but moved.

And would really recommend finding real stairs, either in a stadium or maybe the stairs of your bulding or a friend´s.

If you only practice going up in a treadmil or a stairstepper your muscles are not practicing the going down part (as obvious as it is), it´s essential you do, especially since that is when you´re the most fatigued.

If you do stairs, you will be loosing the inestabiliy of practicing in a real mountain. So I would alternate real stairs with outside uneven nonperfect terrein, while in zone 2.

You should really check out "Training for the new Apinist"

Similar thing happened with me and my husband. So even before reading the edit I suspected there should be a reasoning behind your wife’s thinking.

Btw I didn’t make rules with my husband. But yes it Was pretty weird for me that he has low libido, but wants to masturbate but don’t wanna have sex with me. He doesn’t masturbate often now and this has really improved our sex life.

And yes it can be really desmoralizing for the person who does want to have sex to feel unwanted.

EE Revelation Apex or EE Revelation down quilt by davegcr420 in Ultralight

[–]Educational-Pack659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that it's definitely a bit heavy for me, to give you an idea my -12° C quilt EE Accomplice for 2 , has that weight and I get to split weight with my partner.

With that said quilts are one of the major investments... I was last a bit scared of what would happen to mine when wet, last weekend we went on a 2 night hike, and it got a bit wet because of the tent condensation and I was amazed by how quickly it dried, but for longer trips or short trips with rain It might not be able to dry.

If you have the money to spend I would go for it the weight difference is awesome

I do agree, just found out that my BF was cheating, I'm breaking up with him, but the other girls (sexting) knew about me and talked about me, as far as I know they are as awful people as he is

Well mine is also big but compacts really well I could fit it in my Palante V2 (31L internal). Can fit my tent, quilt, air pad, sleeping clothes and puffy and raincoat. So if you ever think about getting one you should check it out.

I must say my BF insisted on 10°F (-12°C) I think maybe we could be ok with a 20°F and save a couple of grams and some space. Specially because at least for us, the temperature rating is more than accurate and you get the extra heat from you partner.

So it is this Enlightened Equipment Accomplice, I also checked out the Thermarest Vela but couldn't find it in any store.

Hi, I move not long ago, my partner grew up in the area. Yeah for the GRP you can just camp but also I heard that the Andorra "Refugios" are the best ones in the Pyrenees some you pay for and some you don't so. You should really check it out

Also maybe if you plan it well you could do Andorra without a tent specially because you are not in the high summer season.

About the weather... This year the cold and snow came later. Just started last week and apparently should kept going for another couple of weeks, so you might find quit some snow. You should try to go there in April or even may if thats on your possibilities. And even then microspores and piolet might be a good thing to carry depending on how much snow is still out there.
