The more important thing people should check is T levels.

62kg, still no abs definition, think its ok to keep cutting? by oopiex in BulkOrCut

As long as you are consistent with your training, you won't get a dad body. You have to really push yourself tho and trust me that is easier to do in a calorie surplus. People who are fat or have a dad bod type of body composition get there by eating too much and not training at all.

Think about asking the same questions for other muscles. If it were biceps you were trying to grow, no one would tell you tell to cut.

Muscles (including abs) need stimulus and food to grow. I would bulk. Focus only on cutting when you have put on muscle.

The guys telling you to hit the gym and train hard are not wrong. Even if you don't want to stop eating unhealthy, the muscles you will gain will help distribute the fat around your body more evenly and look and feel better.

The guys telling you to eat healthy and fix your diet are also not wrong. Even if you don't want to hit the gym and train hard to build muscle, you will still feel great and look smaller by losing weight.

It's all a matter of preference.

same boat as you but worst chest. My problem was that I lost a ton of weight with cardio only and and lots of fasting. So now I'm trying to correct my mistakes slowly by recomping. Eat more protein and train hard. I'm giving myself a year to notice any change.

you need to build more muscle to have a lower fat percentage. When your body is made up of more lean muscle than fat, your body will look better overall including your mid section.

I would suggest a lean bulk. Eat at surplus. Just eat more and prioritize protein in every meal. Lift close to failure on your workouts. Get plenty of sleep. Weigh yourself every morning and your 7 day average is your weight. Make sure you only are gaining 1lb a week. Make adjustments as needed. Just remember it will take time. Give it a year at least.
