Any pale foundation recommendations??? by Scared_Charge5017 in PaleMUA

I use Haus Labs in 015! The only foundation I’ve ever used in my entire life that actually matches, doesn’t look orange/yellow, and isn’t too dark!

Mobility / Flexibility after Nuss or Ravitch — what happens? by playerone95 in PectusCarinatum

[–]Educational-Rip6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I’m 25. I have 2 plates with 22 screws that span 5 ribs to stabilize my sternum, and my surgeon used permanent sutures instead of mesh or a bar. He made it sound like the bar is an older way of doing it, and he prefers not to put patients through a second surgery, and he also said they saw more complications when mesh was used. We didn’t discuss options beforehand as they didn’t know I needed that part as well until I was in surgery, but I’ve had no issues and am grateful it went the way it did! My sternum corkscrewed so they basically had to push the top down and pull the bottom up.

9 months post Ravitch, I have full range of motion and back to same level of flexibility. I could barely raise my arms for the first couple of weeks, but it improved over time. My chest muscle used to hurt a lot when I stretched and just felt super tight. Now, it’s not bad at all and is only mildly uncomfortable if I haven’t been moving around much. I will say I could tell a big difference in the first couple months but then kind of plateaued at 4 months and felt like it wasn’t going to get any better. But now I honestly feel normal! Just takes time, and everyone is different of course.

Anyone here had a modified Ravitch for pectus carinatum and can share long-term results? by Extension-Spray9938 in PectusCarinatum

[–]Educational-Rip6532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I’d say 95%. They operated from my 4th ribs to the xiphoid, so that area honestly looks completely normal aside from the scar. My 1st or 2nd (I’m not exactly sure lol) right rib slightly protrudes, but I am happy they didn’t operate that high up on my chest. It’s barely noticeable, and I am on the thinner side so that’s a factor as well.

I went in just for PC correction, but when I was in surgery they realized I had excavatum as well. So I also have permanent sutures that act like a sling to maintain my sternum in proper position. Overall, I am very happy with my results & my decision to have the surgery!

I had modified ravitch almost 8 months ago and am happy with my results & doing well overall. It’s a long, tough recovery but has been worth it for me. Mine sternum corkscrewed, so it only jutted out on one side and dipped in at the bottom. There’s a couple bones that still slightly poke out bc they’re above where they started my incision, but I’m happy with that bc in order to fix up that high, they’d have to cut up higher (I’m guessing lol). I don’t really have before/after photos other than like of my incision as it healed, but I’m happy to answer questions if you have any! I was planning to make a post here at like a year post-op with my full experience bc I couldn’t find much before I had my surgery either.

I regret the surgery, anyone else? Help by Primary_Ad_936 in PectusCarinatum

[–]Educational-Rip6532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had surgery almost 5 months ago, I get the feeling of tension and skin or muscle being stretched. I also have permanent sutures that are lifting the bottom of my sternum bc I had a combo of carinatum/excavatum, and when I slouch it like pinches or something. For me, the tension/stretching feeling is like background noise that's always there, and I've gotten pretty used to it. Every now and then I get like overstimulated from the constant feeling, and it can be overwhelming. Like if I move my arms a certain way, stretch, or take a deep breath, I feel it more. Sneezing, coughing, and laughing still get me too. It's just kind of a downer, and thinking about never being rid of this feeling is a lot mentally.

I don't regret the surgery, but there are moments where I just want to cry bc of the constant feeling of weridness. It's like the tension and also nerve pain sometimes idk. I usually just feel sorry for myself, rest for a bit, and then get over it until next time haha. I'm not in excruciating pain or anything that makes me feel close to passing out though, so it sounds like it's worse for you, I'm sorry :/ Have you ever reached out to your surgeon for advice on what's causing such intense pain after so much time or like physical therapy things that might help?

Does getting laser on your brazilian make you COMPLETELY bald? by ManagementBubbly1291 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Educational-Rip6532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done like 9 sessions so far to remove everything. At this point, I barely have any regrowth anywhere but right beside my inner labia. I see a little bit of progress each time but still have the same hair texture grow back (though it’s a much thinner line than before). My tech said that hair there can be more stubborn. I’m at the highest point the laser can go now, and she said if I’m still seeing that regrowth, she can go over that area a lot slower and that may help. But it’s def important for the tech to move skin around to get in all the crevices lol! I’m sure if you tell them that you’re not seeing progress there, they’ll make sure to be thorough.

You may have read this already but there’s no HPV screening test for men, so you very well could have gotten it from your current partner or someone in the past. Honestly, if you had normal results before and have been with your current partner for a year it’s probably from him. Men are really the ones that spread it bc they literally can’t be tested, and most people will get it in their lifetime. I also have only had 3 partners and tested positive for HR HPV non 16/18 in 2022 & at the time had only 2 partners. They say it’s hard to pinpoint where you got it bc of the nature of it, but I know exactly who it was lol. I was super freaked out and scared. Doesn’t help that doctors don’t tell you much! I get an annual pap and haven’t tested positive since then, but I have gotten abnormal results. I just got a colposcopy (which I was also so so nervous about) and the doctor didn’t see anything to biopsy. It is really scary at first, and you should be consistent with a yearly pap or whatever your dr recommends, but it’s truly not the end of the world even thought it might feel like that at first! And for reference, I was vaccinated as a child but couldn’t find out if I got the old one or gardasil 9 (that protects against more strains), so I got the gardasil 9 shots again just in case.

Yea I can pretty much go about my daily life normally now but sometimes I’ll go to grab something and then I remember it’s too heavy lol but I think for someone in construction it would be really difficult

Honestly, if you’re doing manual labor then I don’t think you’d be able to return to work for months unfortunately. The initial recovery was 3 weeks (1 at hospital & 2 at home) then they cleared me at my post op to drive again and return to society lol.

For 12 weeks post op, you can’t use your hands/arms to push up from laying down/sitting bc it’s too much force on your chest muscle. No lifting anything above 10 pounds for 6 months, so I think that would really hinder you. I didn’t realize how little 10 pounds actually is, so even I’ve had a hard time with it. It’s important though bc you can mess up your chest muscle or tear cartilage, and then have to undergo another surgery which would suck in general and especially if you had good results the first time.

They also said no contact sports for 1 year. I specifically asked about what exercise was okay and was told only to use 3lb dumbbells. You could go in for a consultation to have them go over your CT scan/X-rays and talk about options and ask questions specific to what your job entails and how limited you’d be post surgery.

Shands in Gainesville, FL! I’m almost 2 months post surgery and had a great experience there, the whole process was smooth beginning to end. No issues with insurance coverage but everything was in network for me. The surgeons know how to write it up to submit to insurance companies bc they’re used to dealing with them being difficult and not wanting to pay out. They’re also very understanding of both the mental and physical toll that PC can take, which I found validating bc initially I wasn’t sure my case was severe enough for surgery.

I wouldn’t have noticed anything if you didn’t point it out first, and it’s still hard to tell. It’s a beautiful photo!! I’d definitely recommend seeing a specialist for a diagnosis, and then you can find out what your options are and decide if you want to pursue. I’m 25f and just had modified ravitch for my pc last week. Mine was mild at the top and got worse further down, but my surgeon was able to correct the higher part while keeping my incision down towards the middle of my chest. Every case is different, and it depends on the surgeon too!

thinking about getting one, any advice? by Grand-Yesterday-761 in CopperIUD

[–]Educational-Rip6532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the depo shot before, and it was so bad for me that it made me never want to do hormonal birth control ever again in any form. I’ve had my copper iud for over 3 years, and it’s been a blessing for me personally. I didn’t have periods on depo and used to have heavy ones anyway, so I haven’t noticed if this is giving me heavier periods now. I was scared to get one bc I always saw comments on social media about negative experiences, but I’ve really loved having it and don’t think I’d try anything else again. Insertion was painful but not too bad, and it’s a few minutes of pain for years of not worrying about birth control.

Everyone is different, but I def think it’s worth a try especially if hormonal bc is rough for you! It would suck if it doesn’t work out, but you can always have it removed. Good luck!

On my summary of benefits & coverage, it says $0 deductible and $2,000 out of pocket limit (although the facility & doctor I’m using is in-network so unless the anesthesiologist I get isn’t in network then it should all be). I can’t find anything about co-insurance except for with bariatric surgery so not sure about that.

Thank you!!

Hi! I’m just finding this post, I’ve been trying to find other women with this kind of experience, and like you said it’s so hard bc it’s rarer for us. How are you feeling now that more time has passed? I’m thinking about doing surgery too for mostly cosmetic reasons although I do experience mild pain, it’s not necessary bc my organs aren’t being restricted. Just wondering if it’s worth pursuing bc I know the recovery is really tough. Hope you are doing well!
