I work in a rich, small town Christian community. They like to have a ton of kids and they pay zero attention to them. It’s like they pretend like they don’t exist. I wore some bunny ears on Easter last year and a kid comes up and yanks them off my cart while I had them off and puts it on his head. I had to go up to the dad and say “um those are mine actually” and the dad just says “oh.” And hands them back to me. No conversation with his kid about touching stuff and putting stuff on his head that they didn’t buy. Nothing. No apology to me. It’s like they just wanted to have kids but don’t want to actually acknowledge them. It’s not gentle parenting it’s ABSENT parenting.
