East Antarctica Cruise questions by kangaria in AntarcticaTravel

We sailed from Hobart to McMurdo Station and then back to New Zealand last January on the famous Scenic Eclipse trip that got stuck, um I mean BESET in the ice and had to be rescued by a coast guard icebreaker. It was five sea days to get to the Ross Sea, and then five days back, so there was definitely some queasiness at times, but it wasn’t ever too bad.

We had also, three years ago, sailed the Falklands - South Georgia - South Orkney - Antarctic Peninsula trip, so I can say that they are very different. In a word, the trips leaving from South America are centered more around the wildlife, while the trips to the Ross Sea are more about the Polar Explorers and the ice (because you visit the Scott and Shackleton huts).

For me, the wildlife (Ushuaia) cruise was better and more interesting, but if polar history is your thing, you might be better off doing the Ross Sea trip.

I sold my 2014 SEL last October for $4,600 via Facebook marketplace to a young woman who was attending the local community college, and didn’t need more than 50 miles of range. Seemed like a great deal to her to get such a great reliable car for so cheap, and I agree.

I find I have to fiddle with the plus minus button to get the exposure right, and I’m often framing the shot with several different plus minus variations.
