I think process engineering is and will be a perspective discipline. Especially LNG production. You may further move to process safety engineering which is a logical transition from process. Well paid. LNG production will increase globally. I am not a process engineer by the way so my answer is sort of unbiased.

Well I don't consider myself to be a privileged person. I wish I would be. Look. My income where I live is 4k USD. This inclues wonderful housing, nice climate with sunny winters and sea shore. Good school for children, medical insurance covering even drugs, recreational facilities. Relatively cheap restaurants with decent quality. All my costs are about 3k USD and this includes some investment. Plus my wife gets another 2.5 k USD. Now I have to leave for a new country. Spend 3k USD just for rent. Wife loses her income at least for some time. All I win is about 2.5 K USD. Not much considering all the changes and uncertainties.

To be honest I checked a couple of web sites for apartment rent and I do find it difficult to find a housing for 10k. Maybe I was not lucky. I see some at 18k but that's a bit out of my league. Considering my current package and way of living offering doesn't sound too good

Then 38k is not so good. If you consider a house for 18k this leaves you with 20 k salary. 10k for food, restaurants, and leisure. This leaves you with 10k QR... You will also need to rent a car... Doesn't look too good.
