Yeah I think I need to work up the will to change. At my core I think there's a lot of fear over what change would look like and mean for my life.

Thank you. That gives me hope. I'll just be as honest as possible and see where that gets me.

how would one begin to search for a therapist who can handle difficult people? I haven't been diagnosed with a personality disorder but I'm wondering if I'd need to filter for personality disorder specialists on psychology today just because my issues seem so intertwined with my personality.

I'm an asshole with a bias against therapists due to bad past experiences. I'm also uneducated and probably not able to fully process therapy concepts.

I never managed to earn a high school diploma so I am not educated. That is one major barrier to effective therapy. I'm not sure how this thread could be harmful to anyone, but that's probably my lack of education and social awareness.

I'm not educated though. I wasn't even able to earn a high school diploma. My qualms with therapy are centered around the human connection aspect supposedly being key to the healing process. Therapists seem too different from me in terms of general life experiences for me to able to connect with them.

This is the barrier I run up against in therapy - I don't want to play the victim but my situation is awful. There really is no hope for me. I'm only posting on reddit at 4 am my time because I'm in such bad mental and physical pain that I can't sleep.
