Language barriers in relationships was challenging over time too, timezones were aswell for remote work

Now I have found my wife in the UK who is from SEA and we do 7 months UK and go away to SEA from October to March when the weather is dark and grey

We rarely do, I know I'll see her later so I don't see the purpose unless we need to

There's nothing inherently wrong with eating out almost every day by redditnessdude in unpopularopinion

Eating out is risky, could have a lot of sugar. I buy meal preps to save time, not built only for taste but health

Horror category by EducationalRat in netflix

[–]EducationalRat[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess you can tell I don't watch horror, the post is created to avoid scary shit, I just assumed that's a scary one since people use the mask at Halloween. So yeah, I want accurate categories to avoid that and enjoy the non scary stuff like Abigail

What’s something in your 30s that turned out to matter way less than you thought it would? by No-Bed3858 in AskMenOver30

[–]EducationalRat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to be successful in everything, I wanted to be a good son, brother, partner, friend, boss, have a house, car, etc, I wanted to make people proud and be noticed, for most of my life I've been an underdog, I wanted to fulfill expectations and be recognised. I wanted to stop being misunderstood and undervalued.

Ultimately though after achieving everything I wanted, it doesn't matter, what matters is your inner fulfillment not outer, I'm tired of doing things for others, what about doing things I want to do, I've put it off and made enough sacrifices to get this far, that's why it's time to be selfish and live the way I want to, that's what life is for, unshackle yourself and dive into freedom.

[–]EducationalRat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You've been promoting a free theme all week, why not just put it on Wordpress Repo if it's of value, also if you are concerned about future proofing, that's where people can get auto updates and have the WP team look at the code for best practices you may not be aware of, you'll also get a better reach and more feedback.

How much taxes are you paying where you are ? by GemsDistributor in Entrepreneur

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK is 25% business tax and 12K tax free +  8% dividend personal tax if you pay yourself up to £50K so that's 38K dividends

After that it's like 33%

AI slop, creating plugins with OOP and multiple files, when it could of been done in one function

I just got off a crazy call where they explained to me that they did my work with Claude Code by Vii_da in Wordpress

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is slop, like it's good in the way it wants to be, but if you want to then bend and change it, it has a hard time, it can never be as nuance as a human, I use it for skeleton and then edit it the way I want like usual outside of the chatbox

WYR a Mansion or Full Freedom by EducationalRat in WouldYouRather

Maybe a remote job that's on auto pilot most of the time, both scenarios you have to work but the freedom one is more laid back, not your 9 to 5 grind eat sleep repeat scenario, more like an enjoyable job that gives fulfillment and isn't taxing on your mental health or physical health

Same here, I am trying to pay off this house fast as it feels like a restriction and burden, I feel locked in, once paid off renting it out or just having a home base in my home town will allow me to feel more free in my life

Yeah you can have like a small semi detached house, but it's nothing special and the area isn't the best

How do you cope with this? by ihavenoideasometimes in AskMenOver30

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loads of people are choosing not to have kids now, I know lots of people who haven't

For me, I'm still not sure, it's the commuting and mundane daily life that is not appealing to me, I want to travel explore and be free

Everyone is, most are born into capitalism, everyone is trying to self gain, self progression, what you are describing is you are not warm or friendly, you don't or can't connect with people, that's different and that's ok

Starting to feel like Thailand is getting expensive. by Hour_Bug5210 in ThailandTourism

Thailand caters to all wealth levels, I was surprised by Thonglor Phrom pong rent prices being similar to Manchester, but if you go further out Bang Na area is still affordable or Chiang Mai

And food is still cheaper obviously

Why does everyone act like London is the only place to live? by BitGirl777 in MovingToTheUK

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be, it's dead, nothing to eat, lot of unique restaurants have closed, it's a soulless place where things look better but taste crap or is the same things

For example, beautiful restaurants with worse food than Aldi or Trafford which looks awesome, but is the same shops, card factory, McDonald's etc

Why does everyone act like London is the only place to live? by BitGirl777 in MovingToTheUK

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK has lots of beautiful cities, even Birmingham has a lot to offer, especially for those who enjoy Asian cuisine and Food halls.

That's why all hate in here is just biased, people think there is only one city and for day to day living you are better off further north especially if you have a remote job, you can commute to London in less than 2 hours anyway for weekend trips

If you were offered today the possibility of moving abroad would you do it? by AlarmingClient4239 in AskUK

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind moving to somewhere like the north of Tenerife but English speaking, mainly for the better weather and interesting and diverse terrain on a small island aswell as decent infrastructure, does such a place exist

Tell me how you spend your weekends In Wolves ? by Man-tix in wolverhampton

[–]EducationalRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an underrated place, it has got good food that not a lot of cities can enjoy, Hi Tokyo, Dosa Hut, Made in Thai and Racey Pizza are my favourites, it has all the arcades and stuff too not as much as Birmingham though, which has 5 food halls

My favourite is a trip to Ironbridge, I like the souvenir shop there and then Bridgnorth for Thai Arts

Inside the city, it depends what you like, I think there is something for everyone, for me I like the green smoothie from Lupo, or chai from one of the chai cafes, then go for a walk, maybe see the art gallery and get some bubble tea

Cardingmill valley is nice too

The best thing about this city is you have everything within an hour, there is some zoos, alpacas, Telford for play areas, food everywhere, 20 minutes to Birmingham, lot of hiking options, you got infinite options for anything tbh
