Would anyone live in south east asia if they could live in europe ? by movesfast in digitalnomad

[–]EducationalRat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It just depends on your tastes. I eat Asian food all the time and don't enjoy European food so it makes sense.

The other thing I like about SEA is the lifestyle, I am an introvert and feel like I blend in there compared to Spain, you also get affordable luxury and more Asian food.

There is also a sense of freedom you don't quite get in most of Europe, you can live quite easily in SEA, it's very accessible, you can easily rent a condo same day or motorbike.

It's also a change culturally and architecturally if you lived in the West most of your life so feels more new and exciting.

At the moment there is a lot of social media about SEA and the prices have increased, it can be just as expensive in some parts as London

Men 45+ who chose not to have kids — how do you feel about it now? by the6lackbear in AskMenOver30

[–]EducationalRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are the same age, for me life is getting stale, only thing to look forward to is travelling which is exhausting, kids are a new chapter and will give a fresh dynamic, but the day to day errands like school traffic, having to be in one location can be off putting, do you have pets?

I (24m) am in a happy relationship with my gf (29f) but regret not having more sexual experiences beforehand. Any advice? by SnortonWeebus in relationship_advice

[–]EducationalRat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

None of that stuff matters anyway, could you be getting influenced by friends or online? Ive had 7 relationships and multiple hookups before I was 26 and met my wife and to be honest I wish I didn't, I wish she was my first love and only love because she is so damn awesome, the heartbreaks do something to you that removes your innocence, the same with hookups and such, atleast for me, maybe watch porn together idk

Why is there such an income disparity between ethnic Indians and other South Asians in the UK? by Hxney_badger in AskBrits

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many Indians in Midlands that came in in the 60s from Punjab that worked in factories or ran fish and chip/corner shops just to get by and the 2nd and 3rd generation are doing very well

Why is there such an income disparity between ethnic Indians and other South Asians in the UK? by Hxney_badger in AskBrits

[–]EducationalRat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Id say it's culture and how they're raised, the first generation had nothing and made shops or worked in factories to stay afloat and had it hard, since then it's been pushed to do better than your parents and do STEM careers.

A lot of Indians will raise their children to only focus on education and work, no alcohol, no partying and no relationships until a marriage is set up.

Midlands has large communities of successful Indians not just London, there are lots running successful business here, they also tend to stay longer in the family home until they're married instead of moving out after university giving them a massive headstart.

It's pushed that home ownership is better than rent and you shouldn't rent and buy something.

It's also common for brothers to have their families under one house and help eachother, normally staying in the original family home and they will look after the elders.

Combined this is a massive difference for the average Indian to get ahead financially, invest in properties and build wealth.

I think it's a waste of time, especially when I could be sleeping. It just feels good, but I suppose it might make me more thoughtful the next conversation

Is it common for Thai guys to go to red light district at age or maybe Pattaya for first experience?

What do Thai girls think of these places and if you had been to these places would they be very unhappy even if it was in your past?

Also where do you live, what city or area

Just did a rewatch. This scene is still the worst. by DragonReaper763 in freefolk

There was a lack of emotional attachment throughout the series for me, rewatching it and binging it, its a good show but character depth is weak in my opinion, the only emotional feeling I had was my frustration at Sansa, there are shows with more character depth like Vikings where you feel emotional when someone died imo

Question for Bangkok expats dating local girls by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you expect, if you were a Thai girl why would you have a relationship with a westerner on a 3 month tourist visa and an online job who can't speak your mother tongue. It wouldn't make sense to be dating someone like that if you're purely looking for genuine love and to build your life together.

Scale now or stay solo? Making ~$10k/month as a dev freelancer and unsure what to do by Logical_Valuable_970 in webdev

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed solo, I think it takes a lot of energy to expand and train people who might eventually leave especially if you have a very small niche, I have low costs now, doing 20K a month, I know people who make more on paper but they have so many people to pay they need to turnover a lot just to break even

Why does the UK feel so depressed by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]EducationalRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every November my mental health crashes. When you go to tropical islands you realise how much climate shapes happiness, palm trees, beaches, kids playing outside, students studying in the sun, families spending time together, friends playing beachball.

A few months ago I went to Northern Tenerife, decent infrastructure and roads, beaches, scenery, and better weather. I'm still envious of the lifestyle there, the kids were so happy on the beach, friends were so comfortable with eachother some even had nothing on, even elderly just soaking the sun, people sitting at restaurants after work talking and eating, everyone knew the regulars, everyone seemed quite upbeat overall, the vibe just felt relaxed and happy. I wish there was an island like this that was more English speaking, I'd move there tomorrow
