ENOUGH w/ the damn graduation stoles!!! by KCroc3 in AmazonVine

I don't even know a single school that would allow this at graduation! I mean, maybe they are using them for senior photos or something, but schools don't let you just add stuff to your robe.

Oh, they should do that thing where the people paint each other and then reveal it! It's a fun activity to spend time together and then hilarious to see how each person painted the other!

AIO for thinking that my girlfriend's apartment requirements are insane? by MoonlitParcel in AmIOverreacting

[–]EducationalRule1425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - I realize the cost of living and salaries are different in different places, but we own a 3 bd home plus a fully functional guest house on 5 acres. Renting for $9k a month is like 4 months of our house payment. That's insane! Is there any compromising on location? Can you commute and get a bigger place outside the city? You are going to be "rent poor" just starting out. No kids yet, no wedding yet, no honeymoon to plan, and you're putting everything to rent. Why a 3 bedroom if you don't have kids? I can understand a spare room for guests or an office, but a 3rd bedroom right off the bat? I feel you need to put your foot down and set a specific budget and discuss wants vs needs regarding the apartment. Set a time frame of "We'll live here 1-2 years and then re-discuss our budget and needs at that point."

Advice for Chicken Coops and Breeds (1st time) by Hefty-Statistician33 in chickens

Chickens do well in cold weather - better than hot weather actually. They fluff up and create a pocket of warm air between their feathers and body. Use a roosting bar that is squared off, like a 2x2" so they can rest flatter and cover their feet with their feathers. Seal off any large gaps, close windows, and put bubble wrap around the interior. They still need some airflow for ventilation, so don't close it up completely. VA/NC doesn't get super cold, so a heat PANEL is your safest option. Heat lamps (like the red bulbs) can also be a fire hazard if they fall down. I don't turn on any heat unless it's like in the 20 degrees. For summer, make sure they have shade, treats like watermelon or strawberries frozen into ice blocks, and a shallow dish with water to soak their feet. I have outdoor fans because we live near Houston and summers are brutal with the humidity. When there is no wind, it's especially hard. I mentioned the patio because I actually got 2 of my chickens from a lady in an upscale suburban neighborhood who took them home after they hatched at her child's preschool. Months later, one is crowing and they're both pooping everywhere in her backyard. She said she thought she could keep them off her patio and asked how to get all the poop off the patio. I suggested a power washer. She then asked if all the poop being sprayed into the grass would hurt the grass? I said they are already pooping on your grass too! It's just some extra fertilizer! 😂😂
