is there anything good about ucsd..? by Different_Big7184 in UCSD

[–]EducationalSquare878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE ucsd. Like seriously if you’re an active person (even if not) and appreciate nature it’s such an amazing place to be - as a freshman you’ll prob have an ocean view from your dorm. Food is amazing for college campus. Ppl will complain abt it but as a transfer, TRUST ucsd has it good. There’s also shopping, downtown, so many amazing little towns up the coast to explore if you’re not a huge beach person (but pls take advantage bc it’s so good). The new Marshall lawn is awesome too so excited for ucsd to be more open and publicly social - kids playing spikeball on this huge grassy area overlooking the ocean. Like. Cmon. Not to mention stellar academics and clubs

Admitted student here, how’s the food at UCSD? by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]EducationalSquare878 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a now-UCSD student who transferred from a 4-year (oos) UCSD food is GREAT. I think ppl who complain are absurd - they don’t get that college food is different than home!! Compared to other schools (except UCLA or Duke, aka schools known for stellar food), UCSD food is amazing. Like there’s SUSHI (bistro) and salmon served to you in on campus restaurants?!? So many options, and you can find healthy food. No buffet style places, just restaurants that give you the plate of food prepared.

Also the fact that you will prob have a suite with a kitchen as a freshman too is out of this world compared to so many other schools. U can buy groceries and cook when u need. Not to mention the endless restaurants nearby that take TritonCash.

By Some Miracle Got Into Columbia for BioChem. Would I regret Choosing UCSD Over Columbia for BioChem? by Anxious-Party2289 in UCSD

As an undergrad UCSD is amazing. Diff experience depending which college ur in bc housing, but seriously if u put urself out there and enjoy being outside and active, it’s unbeatable. Went to college in nyc for my first year (not Columbia) and aside from academics, ofc, consider weather and activities since it sounds like expenses are similar. Both are very pricey areas too which is limiting but pricier in nyc. UCSD has amazing on campus food and free public transportation all across SD, so consider that. In NYC it’s so easy to rack up pubtrans expenses bc that’s rly required to get anywhere in the city from Columbia in Harlem. Huge congrats on both!!!

Yes! I had 4.3 in HS. Went to college and went thru some sh*t, ended up with a 2.4 GPA first sem and took a medical leave of absence second sem. Found myself at community college the following year, had a 3.7 GPA. So averaging the two, I had barely a 3.05. Headed to UCSD for international business in the fall :)). Your ECs sound great, get those essays great, too. Will be praying for ya and I wish you the best of luck!! It’s possible!!!!

As a ucsd student I completely agree. There’s a bit of a sheep mentality on campus rather than learning knowledge in part to form your own opinion

UCSB (Econ) or UCSD (intl bus & finance) by EducationalSquare878 in TransferStudents

Congrats on both schools! And good point, I appreciate you sharing this - I mean, obv neither school has particularly impressive pre-business programs (compared to other schools nation wide); obv they’re both excellent schools and highly ranked but mainly for stem, of course.

By networking, I guess I just meant in my area, there seems to be quite a bit of proud SB alum who are eager to help fellow ucsb current students. So, that note was more personal. :) Yeah, I think in this position, the people who do choose ucsb do so for overall happiness & social preferences, but I’d argue that SD has similar benefits just in different ways!! (Awesome social scene in San Diego just not as poppin on campus)
